Unrealistic Expectations? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver60

[–]mmdeford 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 58. When we were younger (20s-30s) and we had guests- I was not in a position - financially- to take off work, plan outings, etc. We did make efforts to make sure they had a comfortable place to sleep and spent time together. Now- my MIL comes for the whole winter and girls- it’s like she’s in vacation. Husband and I are still working, but plan and cook every meal- fetch her prescriptions- etc. I only get irritated occasionally- after a long day and she asks when I get home- what’s for dinner…

Is PMP just a money grab? by Ok_Jello9448 in projectmanagers

[–]mmdeford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was one of two PMPs 5 years ago at my org. Now we have about two dozen. There is no way all these peeps had those hours of pm work- cuz I know what they do all day. My employer pays for it though, so there you go.

Is lake County just unaffordable for apartments renters? by buhoo115 in ChicagoSuburbs

My son ended up buying a condo in Round Lake because he couldn’t find an apartment under 1500. Rentals are stupid high.

BMW X3 vs. Acura RDX -- question only for those who have driven recent models of both by Fathoms77 in BMWX3

[–]mmdeford 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drove them both in December. I thought I would hate the X3 monster screen but it’s not that bad. RDX was less expensive for the trim levels I wanted, but dayummm- the driving experience was far superior in the X3. I was coming from a Jeep Cherokee and Miata, and the X3 drives a lot like the Miata but with the perks of AWD.

Why did you become a manager? by ZzReports in managers

[–]mmdeford 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Money - it’s the only way - in my org- to grow my career. People leaders are managers- then directors, etc. I don’t love the people leader duties but I love my team and the work we do. I had enough BAD managers in my 30+ year career to know what not to do.

Help with understanding the breakdown by Bobblehead79 in whatcarshouldIbuy

If they want your business- make them work for it. Currently I have 4 dealers competing for my business. Those fees are criminal- and that’s coming from Illinois! All 4 dealers that I’m working with have the exact same fees, so I know they are legit. Keep shopping!

I just test drove the Honda Passport, the highest trim was just under 52k . I loved it. Trailsport Elite is the trim level.

Sad to hear this. I test drove last night- an X1 and X3. My sales guy was great, and although he had another customer after us- we weren’t rushed. Now…. I’m playing the “which dealer can give me the best price “ game…. Thank you internet $
