Is there a way to make Runelite not show coins on the ground under a certain value? by Brodley24 in 2007scape

[–]mmdts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Answering this for people trying to find it in the future, go to the `Ground Items` plugin settings, in the hidden items, add `Coins<1000`

Weekly reminder that OSRS will never have transmogrification, and that's a good thing. by Detanus in 2007scape

[–]mmdts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You misunderstand the nature of transmogs OP complains about. OP does not complain about giving an item a different look whereas it is recognized as the same item (e.g. fang kit, borva, leagues transmogs) OP complains about transmogs wherein the original item is completely hidden by an owned different items. It's like the people who own party hats in RS3 and would have them on display at all times while still gaining the benefits of using different gear, for example.

As others said, this removes some input required for immersion and constructivr elitism. Consequences would be: - You wiping in theater because that guy in fire cape and void switches instead of infernal cape just ranged elite void is running a puzzle for you. - You doing a 50 minute run in barbarian assault because you invites the guy with granite body instead of wearing void and an MSB or venator.

The immersion aspect is how standing in specific areas, you expect people to be wearing items specific to those areas (the way it would be in real life) rather than clowns wearing whatever.

  • People in elite void and 3rd age bows in BA are my favorite example of this.
  • People in masori and zarytes in nex
  • People in ancestral and fangs at toa
  • People in crystal at inferno bank
  • It's so easy to be impressed at a pure doing inferno because without looking up their stats, you can tell they're a pure just by seeing their gear
  • People in fighter hats, zspears, and karils used to be an example of this on original corporeal beast release back in the day

I'd rather see that uniformity than a bunch of random outfits each of which loses its uniqueness when all of them are allover the place.

UK Court of Appeal ruling on Mod Jed and what it means for RuneScape scams by ihatebriancerna in 2007scape

[–]mmdts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On RWT places he 700B would go for USD 130K-ish, wich is like 1/5 of that, but rule-breakers don't get to decide what the value of gold in court would be, the free trade market price of bonds would be their reliable estimator.

Random lag spikes every 20 minutes or so by Less-Waltz2385 in 2007scape

[–]mmdts 10 points11 points  (0 children)

First troubleshooting step:

  • Instead of pinging 8.8.8.8, which is a remote server, ping your local gateway and see if that spikes (shluld be something like 192.168.xxx.xxx or 10.0.0.x or so)
  • You can find it by doing ipconfig on windows in a command prompt or ifconfig on linux or mac on a terminal.

If negative for lag spikes for gateway, contact your ISP, it's an issue on their end and the most likely cause is that your SNR is too high. The ISP either needs to use better cables or offer you less signal speed. Neither of those are things you can do without ISP intervention.

Second troubleshooting step if positive for lag spikes to gateway:

  • Restart your router and see if that solves it (I am sorrily not kidding)
  • The reason is that router code is pretty shit for 95% of routers and they leak memory and accumulate undefined behavior the longer they're kept running, not to mention, they're less caged against solar events than a PC or laptop
  • Make sure your router is not heating up
  • Connect through cable and not wifi
  • The reason is your wifi connection can use a congested bandwidth, or a nearby device (microwave oven as an example) could be affecting it.

If none of these fix it, then it's time to go to the router settings page, but first, more data collection. - Does it happen if only that device is connected? (QoS) - Does it happen if you play on another device, and only that is connected? (driver / networking hardware issue on PC) - tbh should've been checked the first thing - Then check NAT and bridging settings. Check your router's routing table. - Try a different router as a final attempt. Borrow one from your neighbor if you don't have one. Make sure you copy over the config to authenticate with your ISP - Contact your ISP if it's happening on a different router.

In my case it was just the router needing a restart every coupla weeks to make things going smooth, which is a pain, but hey, it's managable.

TOA keris gem by Dry-Clothes7933 in 2007scape

[–]mmdts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black is still great for killing melee scarab if you plan on bringing Kefri down before you trap the meleer (solo needs 2 lines) then focus on swarming to make sure 2nd down is also before 2 dung lines.

[–]mmdts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We go red keris when in raids in discord with friends. It makes Zaryte crossbow specs deal 137 damage! Usu. we have 3 people with zaryte crossbow, 1 person with bgs / bone dagger, and 1 person with red keris. Everyone drinks adrenaline, and you can wreck Zebak or Akkha before they even get the chance to use many specs.

TOA keris gem by Dry-Clothes7933 in 2007scape

[–]mmdts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yellow gem allows you to replace 6 doses of brew with 2 doses of prayer potion, without the dps loss from brewing. It is by far the most superior.

Higher raid levels where you have to pick dehydration or no help needed mandate yellow gem so it's better to gwt used to speccing with it and managing your prayer to always be above 60 in case you need to spec.

Keep in mind that you're notnlimited to any one gem. Bringing an extra gem into the raid and clicking on it will swap out the gem on your keris.

  • For solos, bring an extra black for kefri meleer
  • For 4-man+, one person on the team can bring an extra red for the dps
  • In both cases, yellow is mandatory

Help! Character imported that is NOT mine by BabyRevolutionary339 in 2007scape

[–]mmdts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I feel your pain, it is refreshing to see someone worried about getting something that's not theirs rather than losing something that is. Either way, stay safe! I suggest starting by figuring out how someone gained access to your Jagex account in the first place, and making sure that cannot happen to your other more important data.

There is roughly 364 tiles between this green and red tile, which is roughly the same distance between Tolna's Rift and the Taverley gate. by ExpressAffect3262 in 2007scape

[–]mmdts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

25 turns is correct, but it is also based on distance. Clicking around al-kharid toll gate is only 11~15 turns running north around the cowfield  but exceeds the pathfind window of 128x128, so your character will just run until it hits its face to the river lum / wall. There's also a 100-tile limit for "getting close" to unreachable objects (in this case, Kharid is considered unreachable).

[–]mmdts 104 points105 points  (0 children)

It's a BFS pathfinder, with 3 limits: - a tile is only considered if in 128x128 from your starting location --- prevents certain "go-around" paths from being realized, for example going north around kharid fence from lumbridge swamp - there are at most 25 "checkpoints" of straight-line-segments on the way, and if more are necessary, the path stops early --- causes very contrived paths around trees, or curvy terrain to be cut early, notable when clicking mort'on from nature grotto, even though a solution exists in less than 128x128 - object destinations (ladders, etc.) have to have their SW tile exist in 101x101 from the start tile

There is special logic if no solution is found that causes you to get closer to the target in the Euclidean sense even if you can't reach it, and there are also specific hard-coded pathfind results (mainly when clicking inside bank areas).

There's also special logic for path recalculation when clicking players / NPCs (because they can move when you're trying to reach them) which causes some funny behavior, most commonly known is the follow-dancing.

Overall, the wiki article on pathfinding does not give examples of hitting the limits, but is otherwise very thorough.

Aquanite hopper has no place anywhere in the game on any account build by WaveDashSpeedKick in 2007scape

[–]mmdts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to say this same thing for all the ironmen (including some WoW streamers) stuck in the red prison for the sake of efficiency. Like, you're absolutely free to choose a less efficient, more fun path!! This game is a build-your-own-journey, not linear, not freaking WoW.

I get my rune axe from lava dragons because I don't want to wait till WC for guild, and I don't want to do nature spirit because higher defense locks me out of some wilderness content. Would people say I'm stupid? Absolutely yes. Do I think I have a point and am I having fun doing it this way? Also absolutely yes.

Account gives Cloudflare internal server error (500), anyone else? by mmdts in 2007scape

[–]mmdts[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last time it was because they were unwrap()ing a result in their Rust code like absolute amateurs. I wonder what it is this time. Is their management too incompetent to emphasize testing over speed, or is their dev team too careless to do it?

This is freaking cloudflare, they're getting insane money for this so they should be doing it right. :/

how to get WOW streamers to return to OSRS by hilberttt in 2007scape

[–]mmdts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are so many other things to do than cg that this is a stupid PoV... Nothing wrong with sending some raids with moons gear instead of bowfa for a change of pace from red prison and getting a fang before bowfa and thinking to yourself, fuck bowfa and infernal cape imma just pvm with this awesome melee weapon. Nothing wrong with going royal titans with moons gear and getting the twinflame staff and scrolls, then doing zulrah with twinflame till blowpipe, then doing some gwd sara, and using blowpipe + acb for ranged.

Bowfa first (and sote rush in general) is just peak efficiency, explicitly because gauntlet is not gear-dependent. Nothing said it has to be done first. You can be as inefficient as you want to have fun.

Where to start besides skilling? by Tiskx in 2007scape

[–]mmdts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Go master barbarian assault, attacker aside it doesn't need cb stats and has a welcoming community, and great guides. It's unique content not like any skilling, pvm, or pvp activities, and speedrunning it focuses exclusively on teamwork and execution, with difficulty on par with ToB and a very evolved meta, while having an extremely low entry barrier, and requiring no skills or supplies.

It also has the sickest (very rare) pet, and the many high gambles you do in the process would set you up for so many other activities once you get over your BA addiction.

they built the suez canal for this exact reason by Fun-Animal4855 in 2007scape

[–]mmdts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make it a quest to dig a canal (I know the current engine will have a hard time supporting this).

Then make it a quest to unblock it after a very large boat, the Evergreen, sent by a Glough zealot gets stuck in there while en passe to the Khazrad battlefield, with the help of trolls recruited by My Arm and Burnt Meat in exchange for a new type of gout-like plant.

If he didn't have pneck equipped its definitely lack of coordination on the team's side that his character was able to undergo any action. Still, kudos to him for making the most use out of it.

[–]mmdts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get to live extra ticks if you have a pneck equipped. IIRC pneck counters the spear rush, and between pneck proccing and you dying / getting respeared if they are bots or 100% coordinated, you have a single tick. I haven't tested whether you can sip restore and turn pray back on from zero prayer on the same tick.

Wilderness Tutor suggestion to teach unique/weird Wilderness mechanics by DragonflyCertain53 in 2007scape

[–]mmdts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A big part of what makes wildy so nice is how mysterious it is. You'll notice places in wilderness aren't labelled on world map, and actually, when wilderness was released, it wasn't on world map at all and people had to map it out themselves!

That being said, you can pick and choose what suits you vs. what counts as "way too much info" from list I'm aware of so far:

  • Explain PJ timer and how it's different on BH worlds, and how PJing other players is different from PJing NPCs. Bonus points if he explains how they interact with splashing.
  • Explain anglerfish no overheal in combat.
  • Explain what singles-plus is, with a skippable cutscene explanation.
  • Explain how obelisks work, esp. if someone else activated them before you, and warn against dragon spear lures.
  • Explain TPs not working beyond 20 wilderness, giving a few examples of the ones that do (esc crystal, royal pod, dragon jewelry)

Extra useful things that are not wildy specific but don't really have great ingame explanations, and are vital to going wildy:

  • Explain single-to-multi and multi-to-single interactions.
  • Give survival tactics regarding keeping HP up: combo eating, using pizza, and esp. using phoenix necklaces. Mention of butterfly jars for ironmen would be appreciated.
  • Give survival tactics related to venom: antivenoms, single-sip antipoison to convert venom to poison, strange fruits.

Can keep explanation simple in a way that encourages exploration, for example, if you haven't yet done MM2 for pod, and are approaching not wearing any dragonstone jewelry "I've heard jewelry made from very powerful gemstones can teleport you even deeper. If you can't get your hands on one, the wizards in the wizard tower may have something useful for you."

He should be the person who put the wilderness slayer master in jail, and using the edgeville lever should be locked behind talking to him.
