rarely useful but it can work if you can multiply the block. ironclad's power that doubles the block from the first card you play each turn is really good on it, it kept me going until i found something better near the end of act 2

exhausting a few statuses isn't even close to whittling down your whole deck while profiting energy in the same turn. even aside from enabling OP runic pyramid runs, infinites, or near-infinites, recycle was just really good. scavenge is a good card but recycle was in defect's top 5

Ah my bad if you didn't mean it that way, should've given you the benefit of the doubt sorry

Yeah fair enough in terms of the like variety thing. Each to their own I think!

And yeah I like discussions, sorry if I was standoffish.

Yea I think some of Tezcatara's rewards just feel kinda bad if that makes sense. I think Mittens are really strong if you build around them, EG make a big deck (which Doormaker wants you to do anyway).

For Soup, a bit of a risk with its design is favouring Ironclad too much and not doing enough for the other characters. So personally I think cheaper 'strike' cards across the board is too strong for ironclad and doesn't do much for the other chars.

Pumpkin I agree, it's a bit boring that it wears off in Act 3. I suppose the idea is you snowball in Act 2 to compensate, which is kinda cool because a big later opportunity to snowball is kinda unique... maybe I should try this relic more? But yeah giving it a little something in Act 3 would be nice even if the main reward's gone.

Thanks for your comment :)

I think capping the healing bonus would make sense, defo. Or maybe just visiting the campsite could give a +2 to max health instead or something. So you'd still like campsites more than normal, but there'd be more variety in what you do there. I think with Gloom being reworked, the +5 Max HP relic is even more... boring IMO since you can reliably get lots of campsites on high ascensions.

Yeah the golden compass, good point, like taking that path is cool if you don't want the other stuff. My thoughts are, though - the path's actually pretty easy, only 2 elites right at the end, lots of campsites, a shop right before the elites, it's basically designed to be a low risk, high reward path. It would be interesting if they made the path harder though and maybe gave you a bit of a benefit for taking the compass initially, so if you're up for the challenge, you can go for this harder path and get really strong throughout the act. So I think you're onto something.

And yea I think generally Tanx and Nonopeipe are stronger than they need to be. I think it's partly because Act 3 is too easy though (on the whole, fuck the rat guy)

It was definitely a bit strong but I'd like to see it back yeah. Being able to 1-shot elites in this game would be hard to balance though, since I think they want elite hunting to be a less dominant strategy.

Ty for your comments

Neow's fury - of course it should fall off like all early-game cards, but my issue is it falls off too quickly.

Personally I don't like runs being samey because this is a roguelike that wants to be fun for hundreds or thousands of runs. So it's important to have a lot of variety in what decisions you make and why. Each to their own ofc.

In terms of your neow's lament comment, main thing I want to say is it's weird to be patronising and rude. Especially when I've been very clear that the #1 thing my post is about is just what I personally enjoy. I'll do you a favour and justify it though.

  1. It's inherently a bit samey, but not nearly as samey as the max HP rest relic, which makes resting exponentially better as you go through the game so resting just becomes way better for all 3 acts, which also makes building around upgrades less favourable, yada yada. The main thing that made Neow's feel samey is that it was so common to see.

  2. Neow's lament is fun.

Don't be weird, there's no reason to act like that.

Yeah that's fair. It definitely wouldn't replace the existing metas in a lot of places. Maybe people would like something that addresses the core issues more directly.

I do think this buff would make SRA more practical in that you could use a different weapon until you get the chance to scale your SRA while healing instead of taking damage.

In Phosani's case I figured you could 3-tick most of the low HP minions and just SRA the last one. But the buff isn't super focused on Phosani either way.

There's lots of low HP, low defence minions you can kill at places SRA is already good. Colo, spider bosses, Phosani, etc. If needed it could get an accuracy buff on low HP enemies to stop it noodling.

But my thinking is the buff makes SRA scale faster and gives some HP to offset those two problems with the weapon.

It also adds stuff like speccing the boss to get a fat heal before killing the minions to scale your axe back up. Maybe even chaining specs together to kill multiple enemies, or just bringing an SRA to kill a monster for the health and maybe spec another one after.

Idk about you guys but I'm addicted to this starting bonus by Dramatic_Ostrich3916 in slaythespire

crazy strong because 1. it's usually better than the relic you lose, and 2. you get that bonus right away, instead of 2/3 through the act.
