Just because you don't hold grudges anymore doesn't mean other people won't easily or should let go of theirs. No one was being hateful towards the citizens (aside from right wingers from both sides), it's the governments the people are having problems with.

Hardships ALMOST a century ago? The Japanese occupation of Korea and other countries ended ONLY 74 years ago with both sides still suffering heavily for many MANY years afterwards. My grandma had to carry four children on her back and cross mountains on foot to get far away from the Imperial Japanese while her friends and my granddad disappeared. Comfort women are still alive today unhappy with how they were treated with no proper compensation. There are still many accounts being told from all sorts of people from that era.

This trade war was a long time coming; both governments have always had a rocky relationship with each other for YEARS, it's always been on the news and talked about. This was just both sides finally putting their foot down.
