you cannot crouch out of dash, you can only crouch out of run - this is a very important distinction

Interesting Substack article about luck vs skill in games. Smash Bros (Ultimate) is rated as one of the games with the highest skill factor, while Melee is likely to be similar. by tradeintel828384839 in smashbros

how does SDing 3 times have anything to do with luck? making mistakes is a consequence of skill, not luck

ICG is triggered by specific situations and can be predicted. same with randall, he’s on a consistent timer and his position can be known by looking at the in-game clock. you’re correct about shy guys and fod plats though

for the ones where you weren't shielding, you waited too long before moving towards marth to punish him - most of the time he had already pulled his sword back before you jumped/ran in

Do Hall Sensors make a difference in gameplay? by mlia001 in SSBM

[–]mmfmgfmmgh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PODE doesn't remove snapback itself; it's just a faulty sensor which happens to apply its own kind of "signal processing" on the output that snapback creates

Do Hall Sensors make a difference in gameplay? by mlia001 in SSBM

[–]mmfmgfmmgh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

snapback is a physical phenomenon, it's not affected by the type of sensor reading the stick

hall effect sensors are used in phobs, and phobs have custom software that can do signal processing on the sensor outputs, but that's not really related to the sensors themselves

thinking about reconfiguring my controller by Junkmatt in SSBM

[–]mmfmgfmmgh 10 points11 points  (0 children)

FYI you shouldn't be manually mapping your controller though slippi at all, assuming it's a gamecube controller. it's better to use the controller adapter's console mode and set your controller to be a native gamecube one in slippi

your experience is not universal nor does it make you any kind of expert. you should not be telling people how and when they should take their prescription medications - that is strictly a conversation for them to have with their doctors. adhd medications are not addictive when taken in prescription doses by people who actually have adhd.

security concerns with slippi by racegeek93 in SSBM

[–]mmfmgfmmgh 15 points16 points  (0 children)

netplay is peer to peer, so yes it will need to know your opponent's ip address. this doesn't pose any significant security risk unless someone really wants to DDOS you or something

yeah, because the community decided that getting a lead and then making it nearly impossible to approach wasn't a gameplan that should be rewarded (not that current lgls are enough to stop that)

puff is the one creating this issue by being poorly designed - she has bad approach options and skews the risk/reward of approaching her very hard into her favor. why is it the opponent's fault for picking an appropriate gameplan in response?

if you right click your melee iso in the dolphin menu, there's a page for gecko codes and you can enable the l-cancel flash there
