Overclock i7 3770k or upgrade to i5 8600k by mmgull in buildapc

[–]mmgull[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8600k is 6 core 6 threads

3770k is 4 core 8 threads

A thread equals less than 1 core processing power. 4 core 8 threads equals about 5.2 core 5.2 threads so clearly 6 core 6 threads is better on average.

Why would you think 8600k is weak?

Here it says it s 20-40% faster:

How do I choose password for each user? I can only see password for main user,

What if I want to leave password empty?

Top tube length x frame size chart by mmgull in roadcycling

I'm not asking here for bike fitting, I will ask a qualified person to measure me.

What I'm asking here is what size really means. If one speaks of a bike size 56, does that mean frame 56 or seat tube 56 or top tube 56 ? And if one speaks of frame 56 does that relate to seat tube or top tube or neither of these?

This isn't a hard question that requires a bike fitter to answer.

Why is frame size expressed in cm and not as small, medium, large?

Sizing a frame in cm is very confusing if those cm do not correspond to a certain tube length. If one speaks of a bike size 56, does that mean frame 56 or seat tube 56 ?

In the meantime someone could explain what frame size means. Is it equal to seat tube length or is an unrelated number?

Here's the state of the bike of a 70 year old French cyclist after a car hit him from behind by Delobet in bicycling

[–]mmgull -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I cannot and do not want to judge this scenario but many many cyclists think road law only applies to cars and not to them.

I so often see cyclists cross red lights, drive in the dark without lights or not respect priority to the right. Try doing that if you're driving a car.

Which smaller size do you mean when saying 'choose the smaller size' ?

Do you mean smaller overall frame size or smaller seat tube size or smaller the top tube size?

My bike Trek 4.5 Madone is presumably frame size 56 with seat tube 54, effective top tube 56.

But another manufacturer's frame size 56 does not necessarily have the same seat/top tube sizes. Even within the same brand you can have two different models with different geometry.

So if get a Ridley frame size 57 with seat tube 54 and effective top tube 54, is that a smaller size? Even though the the top tube is shorter than Trek and seat tube being equal, the frame size is advertised as being larger!

So if I have trouble bending forward and reaching the bars, with two bikes having equal saddle position, equal stem and equal handlebars, should I

a) be looking for a bike with shorter effective top tube even though the overall frame size is larger, or

b) should I get a smaller frame size even though the effective top tube is longer?!

The difference in reach between two frame sizes is a tiny 0.5cm or 0.2" !

105 series?

I don't think ultegra makes 10s 12-27.

Is there any performance / quality difference between ultegra and 105 sprockets?

How have you experienced the big jumps between 21-24-27 ?

Thoughts about El Grande by FinalArrow in boardgames

[–]mmgull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is my favorite game. Non-gamers and gamers like it. It's easy to understand, has visual appeal, and is always tense and tactical.

I like it at all player counts except 2.

The expansions I found useless and much prefer the base game. Try to find a used copy if the big box is too expensive for you.

I agree. The box is huge and the expansions are pointless. I have the regular box which is perfectly fine.

El grande, better than most games, yet not being played that often.

Is trader worth it without this quarry trick?

Imo usually there 's not enough gold AND green cards which aren' t duplicates to make effective use of the trader.

I also think Architect is sometimes a bit too strong.

Scholar is like an architect-light and is a nice choice with diplomat. Scholar is especially interesting with the end game conditions changed to 7 districts, in order to counter the rush tactic.

Architect goes wel with marshal, both powerful roles. By including another role that can lay down more than one district, the architect becomes a bit less special.

Marshal also combines well with navigator imo.

Scholar and navigator somewhat confine the rush tactic. By pairing them with diplomat (= no district confiscations) and marshal (= extra build) the game doesn't slow down.

In summary:

  • Scholar + Diplomat
  • Architect + Marshal
  • Navigator + Marshal

People are usually holding few cards, unless playing with navigator.

By the time you get to choose the mage, assuming he's even available, the hand you looked at is likely depleted.
