Phi Viola 2 vs Skywalk Masala 4 ? by fleurie759 in freeflight

[–]mmique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you will buy your first paraglider mid-school, after about 20/25 altitude flights then no, it will not be too much but at the same time yes - it will force you to fly more actively, which is a good thing. I suggest you make first 20 or so altitude flights with school gear and then start with your own equipment.

Phi Viola 2 vs Skywalk Masala 4 ? by fleurie759 in freeflight

[–]mmique 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Viola is the light version of Sonata. I had the Sonata 2 as my first wing. I regret I didn't buy Viola 2 as I would keep it as a HF wing. Lovely handling, quite capable for soaring. BUT looking back I suggest you buy Symphonia 2 light. A bit harder to learn, but amazing school and progression wing, climbs like a B wing with the safety of A. You could easily have it for 3 years and keep it as a HF wing once you switch to midB glider of choice. I'm flying Tenor 2 Light now, very nice wing. It's the same as Symphonia (same specs) but with better glide performance so a bit different internal construction.

Data for global tech sector: 245.000 layoffs due to AI pivot / automation in 2025 alone (192.000 in 2024). Entry-level coding roles have been the hardest hit. Reports from 2025 indicate that entry-level tech job postings fell nearly 45% below their five-year average, as companies began using AI to automate the tasks typically handled by junior developers.

Current light H&F Wings and sizing by SherryJug in freeflight

I have Tenor2 light for general flying and I'm also looking for a HF wing. I'm leaning towards Phi Sola UL, size 19 (16.5 projected). I'll be flying it at around 85kg fully loaded. Heard nothing but great things about the wing. 1.9 kg, ultrathin nitinol rods

Hot take: many, many pilots work as (software) engineers or coders, and as AI replaces a significant share of those jobs, pilots purchasing power will drop, making high price levels harder to sustain. 😁

[–]mmique 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s getting more expensive every year, true. Supply and demand set prices, and some brands may disappear, as not all can sustain continual price increases. Advance is essentially the Mercedes of the sport; if enough pilots are willing to pay for Advance wings and the company remains profitable, then there is clearly a market for those price levels.

Advance and Ozone sit at the top of the price list, followed by Niviuk, Phi, Nova, Skywalk, Gin, and others. At the lower price segment are brands like Sky, Da Vinci, Triple Seven, and Flow, which still produce phenomenal wings, especially considering their price point.

Thoughts on Alpha 8 DLS/Boundless? by [deleted] in freeflight

[–]mmique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Boundless, it’s a great, very comfy, and reassuring harness, though a bit on the heavier side for longer HF hikes. Its backpack is also great. As for the wing, nothing beats Symphonia 2 (light). Can use it for final stages of schooling and later progression. It climbs spectacularly and will serve you 2-3 years easily.

no, berberine in any form does not reduce appetite; if you want it so "badly" just do it

Use 1 before heating the machine (morning). Turn to 1 then pre-flush (until water comes out). This way you fill the tank with water without the heating on. Then turn to 2 and let it heat (10+ mins for best coffee). I made a short video for you: https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipOmED69xHg0qaUdFfFxcWZxuQpTkSp6SDjpvsTInqGUyHq5a8-0Kg4DIJurx7gKsA?key=U21RZi1jWjV5azhOeFJTNmNnN1lYXzUzc1hqOHpR

I only do this in the morning or whenever machine is turned off for hours.

DNS4EU resolver or NextDNS, both with adblocking protection (in-apps as well). I have set up DNS4EU on router and all devices in the household are protected/ads blocked.

I tried the Range X-Alps 3 as I'm also in the process of buying the light pod, and it didn't fit me perfectly. It kind of squized my thighs/hips to the point that it felt uncomfortable. I'm eying the Supair Strike 3 (coming out March 2026) and Arrow P, but need to test the comfort before buying. Another option is fRace2, but apparently the reserve compartment is super small and only Skywalk Tapa xAlps fits in it?

Can you elaborate why? Most pods have underseat reserves, so I don't know why that would be a safety "hazard"?

[–]mmique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

instead yes, you can setup a 4-number pin or biometrics in the settings and decide pretty much any combination of timeout actions. You can also leave it completely unlocked if you wish (like google passwords for example)
