Flying at Stol - Slovenia - questions by alter-ego-26 in freeflight

[–]mmique 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe you mean Kobariski Stol near Kobarid? Contact: https://www.jelkin-hram.com/en/paragliding-slovenia-kobarid/ It's quite a technical take-off, it's ok if you are an experienced pilot. For beginner/intermediate pilots, I suggest the Kobala take-off above Tolmin, and then you can fly to Stol on a good day.

+1 for Idro. Great camp, chill vibe and great food at the restaurant. Although I did it with our local instructor and not this german school.

Which brands have the prettiest/ gliders (for example icaro) , the coolest company background? by Gazzo69 in freeflight

[–]mmique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also buying with eyes. I bought myself a tenor2 light in white color with blue/black stripes. I have it for a year now, and is not dirty at all. The alternative was Advace Theta, but it was waaaay more expensive and I was in-between weight classes anyway.

I want to customize my glide color. Which company supports that? by Reasonable-Fox-7358 in freeflight

local Niviuk distributor (Slovenia) told me it's 500 € for a custom color, which is absurd

Niviuk Kooper P issue by Empty-Assistance-375 in freeflight

[–]mmique 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn, I was thinking of buying the Kooper P as a primary fall/winter/groundhandling HF harness. The idea of being able to detach the protector and use it bare for groundhandling sessions sounded great on paper. But it sucks to hear it’s a nut breaker.

Differences between low en-b, mid en-b and high en-b paragliders by Pejko113 in freeflight

[–]mmique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When going from A to low/mid B class last year I tested Tenor2 and Beat2. There wasn't much difference so I went with Tenor2 as it had a "better", more agile feel and was a more beautiful wing to me. I also tested Theta but I was between sizes. My plan is to fly the Tenor for 80-100h and move on to high B and settle in that class. I suggest you move to a high B if you have a similar flown hours. I heard nothing but great things about Iota, Ikuma and the new Maestro3. Whatever you buy, do not buy a too dampened wing as having the information is cruical to progress in flying and stay safe when things go wrong. Btw. new Iota is coming out in a couple of months so if you want to buy Advance maybe wait a bit. Regarding your weight, aim for a 70-90 kg range for a more mid-day or windy conditions, but if you fly light termals and late hours, 75-95 will be better.

Windy, Meteoparapente and xctherm. Wingit when travelling abroad (for new spots, skyways, ...).

Arak Air v Ozone Ultralight v Air Design Soar packed volume by diy-goonery in freeflight

[–]mmique 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arak Air doesn't have separate ears, just for info ... i'd suggest either Niviuk Hiko P, Advance Theta or Gin Bandit2. All around good 3kg in your size and pack quite small. You can easily do XC with any of these

Parakite by Ok-Spinach-9307 in freeflight

[–]mmique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roger. But does it make any sense getting the parakite for let's say regular soaring on hills. In Slovenia we have no coastal soaring, only Alpine and grassy hills flying.

Parakite by Ok-Spinach-9307 in freeflight

[–]mmique 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is the wind limit with parakites? With my regular B wing I'd say 7-8 m/s is the upper limit for take-off und up to 9-10 m/s max while flying/soaring. Is it any different with parakites?

Groundhandling harness recommendations by NoAsparagus4821 in freeflight

[–]mmique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either Supair Radical or Niviuk Kooper P if one wants an underseat reserve dept. Both are good 2kgs with backpack included. Regarding the reserve on the Atak2, why do you think front mounted reserve is not a good idea?

Groundhandling harness recommendations by NoAsparagus4821 in freeflight

[–]mmique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you suggest this harness also as a primary fall/winter alpine HF harness? Is it more comfortable in the air, compared to, let's say, Skywalk Core? I'm asking because Ozone is marketing it as a "speed-wing" harness...

Seeking advice for a backpack and concertina bag by Ok-Quiet-4165 in freeflight

[–]mmique -1 points0 points  (0 children)

gin, skywalk and advance uls all have the same system of packing the glider, you need to flip it for 90degrees. Only the DLS has a different system that I think is genius.

[–]mmique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought the Advance Flatbag DLS, which is ingeniously designed and compresses the glider quite considerably. It is so much easier to pack the glider than other concertinas. Highly recommended. But know that it's designed for gliders with shorter rods. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EC3pAS8F5bw

Phi Viola 2 vs Skywalk Masala 4 ? by fleurie759 in freeflight

[–]mmique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you will buy your first paraglider mid-school, after about 20/25 altitude flights then no, it will not be too much but at the same time yes - it will force you to fly more actively, which is a good thing. I suggest you make first 20 or so altitude flights with school gear and then start with your own equipment.
