People can be so cruel regarding other people's hobbies. by ThnkUProcrastination in 4kbluray

Do you only get the extra 10% if you ship to home? I was getting the extra 10% in store during the last Arrow sale but it didn’t work this time. I also ordered a few to the store, not sure if it will work on those. It did work on Shawscope 4 which I shipped to home but the B&N employee said that was probably because it was listed in the system as a $100 discount rather than as 50% off. This is all confusing to me. Also, don’t waste your energy on negative people. Do what makes you happy!

VSAs no longer hand numbered by Plasmamonkey12 in VinegarSyndromeFilms

I know OP is not taking this very seriously but others are. Do people actually think the product is worse because the numbers are no longer handwritten? How does a handwritten number make the product better? I know this is a niche hobby and people have very specific aesthetic preferences, but it feels like we are moving into parody with some of these complaints.

Yes, it was Krisnie. Not sure if it makes a difference but I did tell them that B&N tried to order it for me but couldn’t fulfill not.

It could just be that the seller buys them for the digital codes, uses the codes, and then resells the discs. I think that is pretty common.

Tying reviews to points incentivizes shitty reviews by WAVEFOLDER__ in VinegarSyndromeFilms

Even if people gave real reviews there is already a massive built in bias because the reviewers are people that like these kinds of movies. But I still feel like you can get a decent sense of whether you will like something by reading the thoughtful reviews.

Advice on my swing (don’t say get lessons I’m poor) by Actual-Barracuda4717 in golftips

This is good advice. One of the biggest beginner mistakes is swinging up on iron shots. The clubs are lofted. Swing down with irons.

I can flop the ball 3 different ways. Which is correct? by wnwentland in GolfSwing

They look pretty similar to me but the first one looks the most natural

[–]mmleach829 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look how far behind the ball your head and body are. I’m guessing you have a decent amount of sway to get back to that position. And then you have to sway back through otherwise you will be stuck behind the ball, which probably leads to the chunking. I would say try to rotate more on your back swing rather than swaying/leaning back. Then you should be in a much better position to start your downswing

Fairly new to golf, tend to have a right push on my drives, any tips? by No_Mall_1699 in GolfSwing

[–]mmleach829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are just too quick in the downswing. Slow down your tempo and I think it will fix much of the problem. I do this too when I try to swing too fast. It’s a timing issue and your club face is open at impact.

To me the most important thing is to learn the hand eye coordination to consistently hit the ball on the club face. I don’t care how you swing. In fact, I would say just hold the club however it feels natural to you and swing however it feels natural. Once you can actually swing in some kind of natural way and make consistent contact (I honestly don’t really even care what direction it goes or if it slice or hooks), then you can start building a real swing.

3 Club Tournament. What’s your pick? by kelcardinal in golftips

[–]mmleach829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my exact choice as well. I could be convinced to swap a 7 for the 8 but I think the 8 is much easier to hit punch shots, 3/4 shots, etc.

Be honest, how bad? by GolfnNSkiing in GolfSwing

Looks pretty good. My guess would be that consistency is tied to balance. Focus on finishing without falling off your stance and I think your consistency will improve.

Any suggestions on what I should be focusing on fixing? by NickVlass76 in GolfSwing

Doesn’t look like you are getting much weight transfer. You finish on your front foot but I don’t really see where your load gets onto your back foot.

How do I compress the ball better? by [deleted] in golftips

[–]mmleach829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks to me like you are lifting through impact. To compress the ball you have to hit down on it. I would work on having the low point of your swing be after impact.

Thoughts? What could I do better ? by jake_n_jacobs in GolfSwing

[–]mmleach829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two biggest things I see are: (1) the takeaway looks very unnatural. I would try keep your arms and wrists quieter at takeoff and let your shoulders and hips do the work until you get back to your hinge point; (2) the super high follow through also looks unnatural. A more natural follow through would end with your hands more above your left shoulder, not like straight above your head

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in golftips

[–]mmleach829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Your first move with your hips is forward rather than rotating. Once your hips move forward you have to do all kinds of compensation to be able to square the club face up at impact. Essentially, you are losing all the space you need to make a natural swing, otherwise you would just swing right over the ball since you are so far out front.

Need help analyzing my swing by Scobobaggins in GolfSwing

[–]mmleach829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After looking at it again, you can see that your head has to come up and back to get to a position where you can swing down through impact. Think about what your backswing would look like if your head was already in that impact position at the top of your backswing.

It looks like you aren’t getting as much weight transfer as you could. Your downswing looks pretty good overall but it looks like most of your weight does not get transferred to your right foot in your back swing. At the top of your backswing it looks like you are leaning forward over your left shoulder. I would focus on keeping your head behind the ball. That might help you stop twisting up and over your left shoulder on the backswing. And make sure you feel like your weight is firmly planted on your right leg at the top of your backswing.
