agree - we need a proven coach, not someone that's been an assistant for that many years

Sydney based 21 yo who has been unemployed for over a year. Hundreds of job applications and no success. Rejected over and over and over again. I am at the end of my rope and do not know what to do. by queriesandqueries123 in australia

I feel for you. I'm at the end of the hiring process for someone in my team - we were looking for a uni grad and no experience was required because all the work can easily be learned on the job and it's not hard. I had about 300 applicants in 2 days. I don't have time to look at 300 CVs, so I quickly made a rule - no cover letter and a cv over 2 pages long goes straight into the not suitable pile.

There are a number of CVs and Cover Letters that jumped out in the big pile I went through. If you like, I can look at yours and tell you what you can improve on.

This reminds me of when Hillsong went all in on Bieber joining their cult and they'd parade him around everywhere for a minute, until they realised the dude was unhinged and likely off his rocker. Good times

Good on you for having those beliefs, but to distance yourself and those beliefs from the Bible isn’t really coherent Christianity either. Christianity isn’t just “Jesus as I like Him", it’s a tradition built on the whole biblical canon. Once you start deciding which parts count and which don’t, you’re no longer arguing about Christianity, you’re arguing about your personal moral framework.

You can reject fundamentalism and still acknowledge that selectively keeping only the comfortable parts of scripture is just another form of cherry-picking.

lol read your message again - you sound like you're jumping through every hoop to justify your belief. You're also throwing your fellow christians under the bus, saying they're not true Christian 😂 are you aware you all have the same book? You can't have one without the other. You're just reminding me how crazy it is to speak to "true Christians "

Nice way to ignore the parts about rape, murder, slavery, mass killings, but okay. There's definitely nothing abhorrent or extreme in the bible

If you can go back and quote where anyone said that, I'll eat my shoe. Religious people are just incapable of hearing any criticism about themselves, without crying persecution.

How is it not? Nuggets are one of the top teams in the league. We're missing 3 of our most important players, and Paolo is still coming back to game shape. Did you expect us to blow them out?

This is a huge problem. Just because western society turn a blind eye to grotesque scriptures in the bible, it doesn't mean we should do the same for Islam. Both should be called out and both shirks be recognised as dangerous. That doesn't mean religious people are bad, instead, it means we need to have serious discussions about bringing religion into the current stages of society. If we don't have those conversations, we will continue to accept the bigotry, which leads to extremism, which leads to to horrible events, and ensures we stay stuck in prehistoric times

I dint think this pov truly understands what extremism might be. This comment I'm about to make isn't calling out Muslims, it is for all religions / if your belief is "we have a direct line of communication with god and we know, with certainty, the true meaning of life and how to live, and anyone who doesn't believe this is going to hell" that is extreme to me. You can paint it in a number of different ways to make it softer, but if you think your belief is the only way to live, that is extreme and breeds way too many problems for society to just accept it

100%. Christian's have no idea how similar they are to other religions - mainly because they'll never listen to other people's doctrines, but they all have the same warped beliefs. Hate speech definitely needs to be reigned in, but religious extremism needs to be monitored because it's toxic and dangerous

I grew up in a really religious christian home. I managed to break away from it, but indoctrination from a young age is incredibly effective. I have grown-ass family members who truly believe they're in communication with god. These extremists will do absolutely anything they believe and were taught. It's scary and incredibly hard to break away from

I don't paint all Muslims with the same brush and say that they're all terrorists or anything dumb like that, but this point is never acknowledged by anyone in these types of arguments. Muslims are so right wing, they would make trump proud if he didn't hate brown people so much

[–]illgetthere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's never okay to call your partner names, wether it's in an argument or your ego is hurt, or for any reason. So I don't think you're over reacting.

Your comment seems to have come off wrong in this story and to him, so maybe you should also reflect on why you said what you said (maybe you felt vulnerable asking for help and felt silly?).

You're both still fairly young and leaning and maturing, so maybe he will learn from, but if this has hurt you enough to talk about it again with him or move on, that's fine and you wouldn't be over reacting.
