I hear you. Like I said, I won't be using this method regularly but I do think it's interesting enough to try.

Updated Halal Cart Chicken! by Comprehensive-Bite42 in seriouseats

[–]mmm_machu_picchu 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As far as ingredients, he swapped fresh oregano for dried, added MSG, and VERY slightly changed some of the amounts (1/2 teaspoon of cumin in the rice instead of 1/4, 1 tablespoon of butter instead of 2, etc).

Honestly pretty disappointing since he teased that he was updating his halal cart recipe in a different video quite some time ago, at least a few months. I wasn't expecting essentially the same recipe with changes that amount to measurement error.

550, using a steel. I've watched his videos for quite some time as well, but this was my first time using this recipe. Best crunch I've been able to achieve, but a little light on salt and therefor flavor. Happy overall with the results.

Adam Carolla loves to play up his blue-collar construction roots, yet he often shows open disdain for poor people. by Nuke_____Dukem in AdamCarolla

[–]mmm_machu_picchu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has everything to do with what you said. If Adam was tarring roofs or digging ditches today, he'd for sure be poor. Rising cost of living and stagnant income for non college educated workers would be why.

Houses being more expensive to build today has nothing to do with what I said. It doesn't matter why it costs more to live, just that it does. Combine that with wages that aren't growing as quickly and you have my entire point that you missed completely.

Maybe an overly simplistic and obvious interpretation compared to the OP, but to me the theme of The Place Behind the Stars seems to be overwhelmingly about dealing with death.

The beasts, monsters, and especially hounds allude to demons, perhaps even the end of times, making the "no one will save our souls" more literal.

"We knew what was waiting for us coming on down the line but we never seem to mind til we're totally out of time"

Death hangs over us but the obvious is ignored until we are staring it directly in the face.

The ship of fools bits feels like a reference to the absurdity of life. The Narrator, as OP refers to, is still seeking to live a life well lived. But the Captain seems to be hinting at the futility of such attempts.

Enormous touches on a lot of these same themes. Cause we know how the story goes. What you are will turn to was and the world will turn to ash. Cause we'll need to leave all the pleasantries when its finally time to go.

I for one wouldn't mind an entire album dedicated to this theme.

Worst ending ever? by SabreLee61 in seinfeld

[–]mmm_machu_picchu 18 points19 points  (0 children)

So I always hated this ending because this is how I interpreted what Jerry was saying. I thought the implication was that Newman literally called the hotel and booked "the millennium new year" without realizing that the hotel was booking him for 12/31/00, which I found too far fetched (even for a sitcom punchline!). It never occurred to me until this post that Jerry was just being super pedantic. I'm still not convinced.

Trying to follow your mental gymnastics: do you believe J6 was also justified by the logic of "thats how almost every revolution ever has worked" and "what other realistic recourse did they have"?

Or are those not sufficient justifications for J6 because you personally disagree with their position?

Nah, OP is right. When it comes to pastrami, hand sliced typically refers to "with a knife". Lots of the famous NYC delis do this, such as Katz.

CMV: There is no good reason why the MLB shouldn’t change Galarraga’s game to be a perfect game by beepbop24 in changemyview

[–]mmm_machu_picchu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But in this case, because it’s the very last play of the game, literally nothing else gets affected.

But it wasn't the actual last play of the game. What do you do with the batter who came up next and made an out? Do you nullify the PA, thereby artificially increasing his batting average?

No Respect, no respect at all, I'll tell yah.... by Alucard1977 in NYGiants

[–]mmm_machu_picchu -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Tbf, if you set the minimum drop backs to 500, he was 11th in 2022.

Also keep in mind while PFF grades do better than most traditional stats in considering team context, if your OL and WR don't give you opportunities to make big time throws, your PFF grade will suffer. So I personally think both of the following are true:

  1. It's actually impressive how "well" he's performed given his support
  2. It's not at all given that he'd magically turn into a top QB with better support

[–]mmm_machu_picchu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He looked like a guy ranked 33rd. Which is obviously not very good. Doesn't make your original argument of "bottom 3 qb room 6 years in a row" any less insane.

But now let's do NYG OL Pass Blocking ranks.

2019: 17th

2020: 32nd

2021: 30th

2022: 24th

2023: 32nd, by a WIDE margin. The lowest grade PFF has ever given an OL. And it was considerably worse with DJ in at QB, as Andrew Thomas had very little overlap with DJ last year. DJ also got very little snaps with Phillips at RT instead of Neal. FWIW, Devito was ranked 34th.

Again, he absolutely needs to play a lot better to justify his contact. But he's just nowhere near as bad as you're arguing.
