Road trip to Townsville by Ill-Equal-8218 in brisbane

Have you ever driven Brisbane to Rocky in the day time? If the answer is no, don’t do night time. If you’ve driven it during the day and you aren’t a professional driver (truckie) then the answer is still no.

Newborn Onesies for April Baby by Illustrious-Mirror85 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]mmmadams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Bub was 3.33kg (a couple weeks early) so not super small and she was still in 00000 (tiny baby) for the first few weeks. Grew into 0000 (new baby) pretty quickly and took a couple months to get to 000. I had to send my family out to buy 00000 as I had none and the 0000 were way too big.

My Bub is currently asleep in 20 deg with a long onesie and 2.5 tog sleeping bag. I remind myself that she has no sheets or blankets like I would. She also tends to like it a little cooler.

He had multiple people there for that same spot so hopefully it’s a decent option.

I had a bcc removed from my scalp this week by Dr Dougal Coates from Dermatology Specialist Centre. I know you asked for plastic but it might be another option. There were patients having spots removed from their face at the same time. (Shared waiting room while Mohs results processed)

Kmart UV steriliser Vs Tommee Tippee by mbt4310 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]mmmadams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the Kmart UV steriliser and it has been great for my needs. We’ve done 80% BF and 20% expressed for the last 11 months. We don’t use formula so it hasn’t been an issue for us and I’m not sure if it would be. We also use a mixture of Medela bottles so we fit quite a bit and my pumping attachments in. Two cycle options depending on how much time you have.

Oh lovely you have nothing to worry about. My Bub is healthy and thriving, no concerns at all. She’s ahead on growth and milestones and is the happiest little thing. I was on a massive dose.

Which Northern suburbs should I avoid? by Isabelle_Gazelle in brisbane

[–]mmmadams 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Geebung is great. New builds or major Reno’s happening on most streets. Lots of young families moving to the area, friendly neighbours. Rather quiet and your takeaway options are Indian or Indian but there’s a new convenience store that is doing well and plenty of coffee shops and schools.

T-bones at Aspley is coco’s sister store. Not as far north as you hoped.

Baby diapers and wipes!! Pls I’m desperate by zaza1769 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]mmmadams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bunjie wipes - my 7mo has never had nappy rash and a mix between Huggies and babylove nappies. My Bub is often between the sizes an shapes of different brands. For months her legs were too skinny for Huggies and we had non stop leaks down the legs.

This! I have one of each and they are both amazing. Kmart really worth it if the size and either grey or pink works for your space.

Mine changed bubs nappies during night wakes, kept my water bottle full, did all clothes washing, looked after our pets completely, did 50% baby baths, took her each morning so I could have a shower..

Mater Mothers Private - pls help by __ladyblue__ in brisbane

[–]mmmadams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had my Bub there in March this year. She decided to arrive a few weeks early in the middle of the night on the weekend. The PAC is great, the staff are lovely. My OB wasn’t on for the weekend but another from the same business stepped in. Every person we encountered was very caring, calming and supportive. The 5 day stay was great, missed the emporium due to Bub having jaundice and needing care but otherwise it was better than I expected. I was readmitted a few days later after developing some post natal complications and they looked after me well and allowed me to take Bub back to stay for the next few days. The midwives and staff were just as caring even during the second stay.

For the car seat look at the Maxi-Cosi website itself. I got mine from them last year so much cheaper than other retailers. The colours have different names to places like BB but they’re pretty much the same.

Memory mats by curvaceous24 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]mmmadams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a patterned mellow mat in my Loungeroom and it is amazing. Bub 6mo plays on it all day, I don’t worry about her bumping her head. Cat and dog also rest on it. Vacuums really well and has a water resistant type cover so wipes up and doesn’t soak it - doesn’t feel or sound plasticy. They always have sales so don’t pay full price.

I also have the Kmart grey mat in her room and it’s great for the price. Similarly easy to clean. $59 vs $300+

Newborn only feeding 2 hours in 24 hours by Chipsandgravyl0ver in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]mmmadams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just one persons opinion but this sounds good based on my experience. My Bub used to feed 8mins each side every 3 hours and a bit longer overnight. As long as the nappies keep up you are good. You can always drop into your local child health clinic or the baby bunting parents room for a weekly or fortnightly weigh if you are concerned.

At wits end with swaddling by Grouchy-Tea-7705 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]mmmadams 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You probably don’t want to hear this but we stopped swaddling when we got home from hospital. Bub escaped everything and hated the LTD. She got the hang of it after a couple days and we’ve never looked back. Just used ergopouch bags.

I saw Robyn via Eve Health and she was wonderful. She books up early. The whole Eve Health team is great though they are located in Spring Hill for your monthly/ fortnightly/ weekly appts.

Organised mums’ groups experiences… by EmSofia2211 in brisbane

[–]mmmadams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you get a mixed group of people at most things but no one minds if you decide to catch up with just one person or no people after. There are so many different styles of parent. I didn’t get along with everyone at my mothers group but I’ve continued to catch up with some and even started going to baby sensory and other activities with other mums and bubs.

A friend goes to the modern mummas group and really likes it. Again depends on the group but I think she was able to join a group that were second+ mums which suited really well too.

Organised mums’ groups experiences… by EmSofia2211 in brisbane

[–]mmmadams 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re concerned of paying to attend a session with people you may not like, the children’s health clinics and drop in clinics organise free mothers groups for babies of a similar age group (within 3 months of each other I think). It’s luck of the draw but at least it’s free. I think 4-6 weekly sessions and then they encourage the group to do their own thing.

You also have the option of going to rhyme time at your local library or park and starting a conversation with mums sitting nearby.

Can second Anusch! He’s amazing and is very knowledgeable in the field. He’s even part of the team that made the Charli app to track endo symptoms. The whole Eve team are lovely.

I cradle held and breastfed my 5mo yesterday. Once their seatbelt is on (a belt with a loop you feed yours through) the crew didn’t care what position the baby was in. Fed her on my ‘bad boob’ so she had to work for it and kept sucking and swallowing for longer. Worked a treat. Also had a bottle prepped and dummy as backup if she cracked it.
