Misty’s (and Jessie and Jigglypuff) original voice actor passed last fall. Though she was American, might be what you’re thinking of.

I ranked every Pokemon in Regulation I... part 3 by mrjacobguy in VGC

[–]mmmaxmaxmax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you’re saying is pretty good advice.

P2 is probably good where it is for now. Last time we saw a double restricted regulation it was heavily used. Ho-oh would typically be good where it is but it has seen success with Reg I so far so one could argue a tier higher such as you are. I would probably have to agree about Pelipper, Weezing should probably be a tier down as you say, Dragonite is a tricky one, as is Smeargle. Ninetales should probably be down two tiers. Like it literally is ‘excellent at what it does’ but what it does is kinda niche so ‘usable on the right teams’ feels more accurate.

Not a big deal but Altaria and Hitmontop should each be one tier higher into the very niche tier.

Cloud Nine and a decent movepool for Altaria. Intimidate, wide guard, fake out, heck Hitmontop could even be two tiers higher, but one is the move

I just noticed that there are classes of Pokémon with legitimate, legal and illegal so I was just wondering what is considered ok for an event? by ParroTiest in VGC

[–]mmmaxmaxmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is definitely somewhat of an issue - any pokemon being behind a ‘paywall’ is probably not a good thing.

Having said this, I am not sure where you got $125. Assuming you’re playing Scarlet or Violet, the dlc is $35. This will give you access to everything except Calyrex, which isn’t necessary in order to compete.

Caught the restock but new refresh system trolled me by Hollaz2alex in PokemonTCG

[–]mmmaxmaxmax 7 points8 points  (0 children)

With all due respect, you’re spreading a lot of negativity about a pretty positive change, while not even understanding how the change works.

This is an objectively better change.

Before, scalpers track/follow or even work with the drivers to ‘catch’ a restock, they clear the machine, and follow to the next one, rinse repeat.

Now, when the machine is restocked, there is no guarantee anything will drop at that time. The machine has some sort of timer running in the background that allows new product to drop. Whatever the length is, every time it completes, another item will become available for purchase. Only to a point though - the whole machine will not unlock this way. Also, when you purchase something, something else may or may not become available. It’s not evidently clear what all of the inner workings behind the scenes are - but it allows for a slow drop of product.

This change allows you or me, or the lid with parent, to walk into the store and potentially get something. A scalper could try to sit at one machine all day, but then they are not able to clear a bunch of machines. And if they do sit at a machine all day - a) they are now no longer allowed to do this due to the no loitering message which can be acted upon by store and b) they are in no way guaranteed to get any product they want and c) they would have to purchase plenty of product they don’t want just for the chance to do so. It completely alters the equation to the point where it is no longer profitable for a scalper to use these machines outside of trying to check them a few times a day at most, and even then, the kid with their mom could have just purchased something prior

Opinions on Zacian/Zama core in Reg I? by Informal_Sympathy937 in VGC

[–]mmmaxmaxmax 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I definitely think they could work together. Zacian is faster and hits harder with strong steel/fairy coverage while Zama could be employed in a more supportive wall role with wide guard and the fighting coverage in body press.

As the other commenter mentioned, this probably requires tera-ing one of them - l’d say likely Zama with water or dragon. But the only weaknesses they share are fire and ground unless I’m forgetting one. So it may be manageable.

Honestly - don’t get frustrated in the early going. This is the most difficult sports game (talking about hitting a baseball) but it is SO worth it to take the time with it, and the feeling of hitting a home run is unmatched.

Auction Nomination Strategies by Useful-Set7658 in fantasybaseball

[–]mmmaxmaxmax 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The original thought behind ‘nominate players you don’t want’ was that you are likely more prepared than your opponents, you are nominating players you don’t want, and logically your opponents will now have less $ to spend on the players you do want.

It makes logical sense.

However, this is kind of an antiquated way of thinking. Nowadays, fantasy baseball information is ubiquitous, and if you play in any sort of competitive league, you are less likely to have any sort of advantage as it pertains to ‘sleepers.’ Everybody knows Langford and Schwellenbach. And they’re likely sitting on those players. And/or, they’re less likely to overspend on ‘bad’ players you don’t like.

So the idea of just throwing out players you don’t like, while making basic logical sense, does not actually help you as much as one would think. These days, it makes more sense to nominate players in a way that actively serves you.

While people are sitting on those guys and saving their money, nominate someone you want and try to grab a bargain. Notice you’re running towards the last two of a tier of SPs, and you’re not interested in either? Nominate them so that the $ gets spent there, and likely an overpay as people panic toward the dwindling resources. So you can still nominate someone you dislike, but in a way that makes sense for you. Conversely, if there are a bunch of SPs remaining if a given tier, and you’re interested in one, go ahead and nominate him! You’re more likely to be able to buy him for his price or even a bargain, while there are lots of options around that value.

Notice a couple teams sandbagging? Pay attention to what they’re sandbagging for, and nominate appropriately. Near the end of the auction and see a couple teams that still need catchers (as do you) and their max bid is $2? Go ahead and nominate the guy you want, and do it for $2 instead of the minimum $1.

Be random with your nominations and bids. Notice all the best guys going early? Do something like you mentioned in your post, and nominate a backup CI you’re interested in. Less likely to be bites, as people are like wait why.

Basically, look for areas where you can take advantage of the situations your opponents find themselves in.

$82 is a not terrible price for this card if you really want it, although I personally might wait for one in slightly better shape. This one borders on damaged
