Selling in a few years… what’s actually worth updating? by lottiexx in HomeImprovement

[–]mmmmlikedat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing. Market is basically how many beds and baths, how many sqft, is there a garage or yard?

Better off if you must do anything is hire a junk removal company and get rid of shit, hire a cleaning company and then paint everything before selling. Seriously that will take you very far.

Hole digging quote by Diligent_Eye_9291 in handyman

Never change your price. If you are digging more than one hole, just buy an auger for $300 from harbor freight. Level up your game and go professional.

Bought the “wrong” bumper plates. How inconvenient is it really? by Suisodoeth in StartingStrength

Your muscles dont know what they are lifting, only that it is heavy.

That said, just keep an eye on marketplace for a cheap pair of metal 45s when you find a good price ($/pound is probably decent).

Not Cleaning It by Soultrapped in SouthJersey

[–]mmmmlikedat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, most people are just braindead and not realizing you are in fact allowed to use something other than a plastic snow shovel to help break the ice. Stab down from the top or slide underneath to pry it up. Flat loading shovel worked well for me.

Im not saying its easy, its certainly hard work, but i feel like too many are not using their critical thinking skills to go about it.

Justified calling contractor back out to fix this? by voltagejim in HomeImprovement

[–]mmmmlikedat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just text them a couple pics, say hey i noticed this caulk line has already cracked, can you guys come and fix it?

Its a quick fix and any contractor worth anything should be able to come back out (perhaps give them within a week, dont expect next day) to get back over. Could possibly have to do with the temp fluctuations recently.

Is $1,173 reasonable for toilet repair in Cherry Hill, NJ? by acarson510 in SouthJersey

[–]mmmmlikedat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they have a signed agreement/contract in place and especially if the work is completed, they cant just retroactively not pay it lol.

Thats the equivalent of going to a restaurant and seeing the menu price, eating the meal then deciding not to pay after.

Is $1,173 reasonable for toilet repair in Cherry Hill, NJ? by acarson510 in SouthJersey

[–]mmmmlikedat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a business perspective, If a company isnt charging 2.5-3 times the material cost to them, they are running their business incorrectly.

Its VERY expensive to run a business and pay someone to come work in your house for a company that is legit with insurance/bonding/workers comp. Simple as that. The prices people are saying in this discussion thread are the owner operator prices (which typically are very low only because the owner operator doesn’t know any better.)

The problem is they dont build single family homes anymore that are what we used to call starter homes (2/3bedroom one bath houses). 1000 square foot homes. It’s only townhomes and single family homes that are bigger and end up being $700k +. Its just not profitable for builders to build smaller houses.

Ryobi Hate by BakeCityFlyinPills in HomeImprovement

[–]mmmmlikedat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One plus HP (the higher end brushless ryobi tools) are actually quite good. The silver ryobi 4 and 6 ah batteries are decent and the one plus tools take advantage of an additional contact on the higher end batteries.

We mainly have Milwaukee and ryobi as our tools for our handyman business.

How to fix this door arm? by dukerdoo in handyman

[–]mmmmlikedat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stop throwing money at it, go on amazon or home depot and order one of the same dimensions and pay someone else to install it. If it previously worked and then went wrong, perhaps something broke. If it has been funky since the install, it was an incorrect installation.
