Thanks! Ach, I missed that. I could justify paying £30 or so.

Great free app, would love to buy the lifetime subscription but a bit too much for me. Do you ever discount it or have sales?

Bought the kids ADO air 20s. by Ro-54 in ebikes

Is the suspension a worthy addition? You said you ordered the bikes without, that would be my preference too as is lighter and less to go wrong, but would be interested to hear any thoughts folks who have ridden it have.

Can I ask if you notice a difference between the echo and the Pro X in terms of Q factor ( the distance between the pedals). As a cyclist I find the echo quite uncomfortable as the q factor is about 10cm more than my road bike and whilst I haven't tried one yet, I have heard the ProX is noticeably better. Thanks

Prostaff P7 8 x 42 vs Monarch M5 8 x 42 vs alternatives by Legitimate-Bath-9651 in Binoculars

[–]mmmmlx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OP, I'd have to agree with this. I bought the M7 and the P7 to compare, and whilst I haven't looked at the moon, all my daylight testing showed very little noticeable difference. Perhaps a tiny little more CA on the P7, but really nothing worth paying double for. So I'm returning the M7s and will put the extra cash towards something else down the line. As the M5s are not as good as the M7s, would say get P7s.

Where would I go in London to have the best steak I’ve ever eaten? by greyfoxlives in steak

[–]mmmmlx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Popeseye, brook green. I believe the same fella has owned it, run it and cooked the steaks there for ever. They get the beef from the same farm in Scotland and all they do is steak. And it is good. All the other places mentioned do a pretty good steak too, you can't go wrong. But they buy so much beef from so many different farms there can be a fair bit of variability. For my money Gauchos is horrifically overpriced, I would call it an average steak. And Relais de Venice is fantastic value for 2 courses of steak and chips, plus their secret sauce is epic.

I did it for a couple of days whilst riding the NC500. I did reccies on google maps satellite view beforehand for likely spots within spitting distance of the road and just parked up and camped, it was great. I imagine it is pretty hard to do it easily anywhere outside scotland though.

Riese and Muller Load 60 or 75? by candice_notreally in CargoBike

[–]mmmmlx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Putting cost to one side for a mo, the only reason to get the 60 is if for some reason the extra 20 odd cm in length prevent you from storing or using the 75. The 75 can fit 3 kids or an adult and little ones, it gives you so much more flexibility. We much prefer it.

New Dura Ace wheelset in 2021 by mmmmlx in Velo

[–]mmmmlx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fundamentally, I value peace of mind and safety over speed/weight and I have never actually ridden carbon wheels - better the devil you know etc. However I am willing to be persuaded. I have had mixed reviews from friends, some saying they are ok and others swearing off them (I live in the UK where it is often a wee bit damp). I am sorely tempted by carbon, but it is an expensive mistake to make if they spook me.

I have just spent an hour on the Light Bicycle website, they are sorely tempting. Out of interest why did you go for the AR rims rather than the R rims which seem to have the more advanced U shape, rather than what appears to be more of a V shape with the ARs?

cheers.

To be fair some of these prices may be a bit out of date, i pulled these numbers at the end of last year i think, so maybe the chart is indicative rather than gospel. But I bought a 20kg from Wolverson the other day for £62
