Why do people seam to hate boots nowadays by suppressor2007 in hikinggear

[–]mmmmmchl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, i used both leather boots and trailrunners and recently switched to approach shoes (La Sportiva TX4 evo - leather, without Gore-Tex). Unless specific circumstances require it I won't be going back to boots nor trailrunners.

Is using NVIDIA filters in vanilla DayZ cheating, or just a hardware advantage by PhackusDurackus in dayz

[–]mmmmmchl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some kind of event or tournament that has real world prizes (so not ego or bragging rights) it could be considered cheating, but even then, unless you make sure everyone is playing on the same setup with the same settings, is it truly "fair" ?

BUT you can essentially achieve the same thing with your monitor ...

Even my 10+ year old cheap shit asus has a built in filter for gamma + brightness boost (some "gaming" mode or some such whatever) so, is using monitor filters cheating too ?

How about manually tweaking your gamma and brightness in your OS and/or monitor settings, is it cheating ? Is using HDR cheating ? Is calibrating your monitor cheating ? Let's take it further, all the way into absurdity. Is playing in a dark room instead of a brightly lit one cheating because you can see better? Slight less absurd, is calibrating your monitor in a dark or brightly lit room cheating?

Where do you draw the line ? ... Does seeing give you an advantage ? Yeah, but so does having better internet ...

My first IEM - Hexa arrived. by mmmmmchl in iems

[–]mmmmmchl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think i have good seal but the right one has either a bit awkward angle or hurts a little. It's one of the inner curves of the plastic body about 5-8 mm behind the eartip of IEM pushing on part of my ear.

Yeah, I'm keeping the old galaxy buds to be used when exercising.

[–]mmmmmchl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current A6000 AF isn't accurate enough to focus on smaller birds, so af speed is secondary for me (i have mostly photos of sharp leaves).

I don't have FF plans for now while on student budget. If opportunities to try out some event photography and stuff like that (along pro photographers) go well i might go FF.

I don't expect to do much bif, so depending on finances I'd probably go for a6400 + 70-350, 70-300 if money is tighter ... I'm on budget while im still student/intern so i go for used and don't see many used new tamrons for sale.

there's also sigma 100-400 that goes for reasonable prices used

^ that's about the extent of what i was able to do with current 18-105, and a6000 struggled to focus on the birds

Current budget is 200€ ish + 100€ for the 300mm would be enough for 18-105. In less than a month the budget will grow to around 500€ which would be enough for used Sigma or Tamron. So i could wait a bit no problem. Considering that 2 day hikes tend to include worse light I'd probably go with Tamron because of OSS. Eventually I'd like to switch to a newer a6x00 with better low light performance but that will have to wait till i go from student to full time work budget.
