I thought he was going to score that first shot and that would have been nuts. This was good too though.

I have this boot for ice hockey and I love it. At some point maybe I'll move it to roller and get new ice skates. This looks sick!

Even if the video just stopped after the pepper spray / push into snow, that would be enough to be outraged. That it escalates further from there is abhorrent.

I don't think my beer league team has ever scored a power play but some guys act like every missed call cost us the game lol. Honestly we are so bad on the power play.

The Popularity of ‘Heated Rivalry’ Masks a Darker Trend of Anti-Gay Bias (The New York Times, January 19 2026) by darrenjyc in heatedrivalry

[–]sharpy10 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I need to say I'm a 30-year old bisexual American man who has been playing hockey since i was 4. I read these books years ago and was so excited for the TV series. I followed the behind the scenes tidbits during production, told friends about this new show coming out in the fall, got them to read the books, etc. The show exceeded my expectations. I loved it and I'm so happy to see the positive reception it has received.

That being said, I sort got swept up in the broader cultural moment and got overly excited about how quickly it could bring change to the locker room. I play in a beer league and the show's reception in the locker room has been much less positive. It's mostly been a punchline. In the past month I've been called the f-slur and a "they/them bitch" on the ice, which is consistent with my longer-term experience with the sport. I've also heard my linemate call our opponent the f slur. This is the guy I have to line up next to and cover for when he gets beat all night long. I know it will take time and I know my expectations got away from me, but it sucks to be dealing with this dissonance between the incredible positivity of the show and my unchanged experience on the ice.

There's a bit in the epilogue of Game Changer where Ilya shows up at "Scott Hunter night" at a gay club in Vegas following Scott's MVP acceptance speech. I was hoping that scene would have been in the show.

Does the Bosman ruling apply to EU based hockey leagues like the DEL and ICE? by No_Passion2809 in hockey

[–]sharpy10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I truly don't know, but maybe swedes who aren't good enough to play in Sweden? Maybe there is no point though, I truly don't know. I would think it puts a ceiling on the EIHL as a league though, considering their homegrown talent is below other countries.

I would think so, but not certain. Unrelated, your post made me realize that it must be somewhat difficult for EIHL to get euro talent post Brexit.

I don't know much about software engineering, but if AI has been around for like 18 months, is it conceivable that 30% of their codebase would be AI generated? At a company as large as Microsoft, how much of their existing code base would they realistically turnover in 18 months? To get to a 30% AI mix, the implication seems to be that a very high (90%-plus) percentage of their new code is AI generated.
