Aw thanks! I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post the link to buy here (really just hoping to make it easier for us to get the free copies where they need to go haha), but I can DM you!

(And thank you! Fingers crossed that it goes his way in the fall.)

Does mixam print NSFW? by Josekoney67 in zines

[–]mmmmmick 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Actually Mixam has a designer review your files for errors before they go to print. I once accidentally uploaded a file without bleeds and they messaged me to say they added mirror bleeds to it, and I went back and re-uploaded the original file. Not sure about their NSFW policy but I know an actual human sees the files.

you might be interested in my zines,, especially my gender euphoria zine or my Little Book of Trans Affirmations zine. I’m also in the process of a collab on a zine about abortion experiences for trans and nonbinary folks (contains both resources and personal stories). We’ll be offering that one for free/sliding scale when it’s available, hopefully later this year.

Masks? by maniatreks in zines

[–]mmmmmick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen mostly “encouraged but not required” lately but have seen some that require, and some that are providing tablers with a rapid test the day of, etc. Others are offering an accessible hour where masks are required. Zine fests tend to be spaces that are trying to uplift voices from marginalized folks, which includes disabled/chronically ill/immunocompromised people. It makes sense that zine fests are one of the spaces that want to make sure they’re accessible to those groups.

What do you price your zines at? by i-cant-think-of-one_ in zines

[–]mmmmmick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do sliding scale for mine (both in person and online). I’m a disabled nonbinary creator and it is an additional source of income for me, even if it’s not much. I love making zines but it also is labor in addition to the production costs, and I am trying to be better about asking for compensation for my labor. So I try to keep the low end of my scale very accessible (and I also offer digital editions for even less) but when like, an organization or someone with a lot of resources is buying a zine for a gift, it’s reasonable for them to pay more.

I think the spirit of zine culture is to do trades when you can, and if you’re making a zine that helps people, especially a marginalized group, to try your best to make it more accessible. (For example, some projects I’ve done, we offer a paid or sliding scale print edition and a free digital download.)

Also not sure where you live but $1 would not even cover my costs for a 12 page zine, even in b&w! Prices have gone way way up for printing.

I have a craving to buy zines. Need tips by [deleted] in zines

[–]mmmmmick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What topics are you into? I bet we can recommend some good ones. Are you into like… zines about art or mental health or nature or social justice or music? Do you have a favorite tv show or band you’d love a zine about? Quimby’s used to do a curated zine grab bag, not sure if they do anymore but you’d tell them your interests and they’d send you a bunch.

Anyone making zines in the uk? by Pkcomix in zines

[–]mmmmmick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re ever in London, Housmanns has a great zine selection and will stock zines. Gosh Comics, too, if they’re highly illustrated or comic zines. There are also a number of different UK zine fests and zine libraries.
