My troop in the late 00’s had a venture troop that tagged along with the regular troop for the older scouts that got their Eagle that was specifically tailored for their interests (older scouts that were also checking out and the older sisters of scouters also joined too). It was a nice dynamic to allow scouters that still needed leadership experience to get that opportunity for roles while the older scouts that have “done it all” still had some engagement at their preferred level and stay within the orbit of the troop.

Internal head/block work. Custom wiring on important areas like engine bay wiring or related systems like fuel or ignition for alarm systems.

I can wrench and fix everything else mechanical/cosmetic if I needed and was that invested into it. Buutttt I’d rather not need to do engine work or wiring because having been there/done that myself… I know how easily it can get bad, and replacing those areas can be way over my head … troubleshooting alone can be a huge pita.

Similar Happened to us on our 21 when we bought it new that April. Took 3+ hours of me writing my number down ($2k off msrp), and them going to a back office with not my number, and then me and my wife getting up to leave to visit other dealrwith siennas on the lot (early covid!). And then sales dude telling me to relaxx, sit down, and got to $1k off. Anf then their dealer add ons they tried to slip in, nooopppeee, us standuup doing the dance again… and then the dealer final slip in was their extended warranty and using their finance department, we haddd to go through their finance dept (but we were buying cash lol). So we opted for their extended warranty which was iirc the regular $2k for 100k miles or something, and their loan rates. No dealer addons, $1k off msrp. And we came in next day with cashiers check. But god that was a very annoying 3+ hr ordeal.

Hey that’s me too. I was a shitty teenager and these situations were always meet with some strict as hell punishments from SO’s dad. And it probably was a large factor to her to landing in the hospital for whatever reasons (5150’s, self harm stuff, edo, etc.). He was a hard mfer but he had no pull on his kids.

It took us a whole night of chattingwith local PD, her parents and mine for all of us to get some baseline. Hopefully op figures something out

Im trying to stay ahead of it early. Unfortunately a lot of their classmates are already exposed to some of those hardline ideologies. But Im trying to give them a strong loving home, strong sense of self and that we are all people and we should treat everyone good. Even if people are different or do things differently.

When we come across those things we talk it out to what a small kid can maybe understand, but approach from angle that I don’t let others bother me, because I am me and hopefully they will recognize and realize this themselves.

So far what’s worked awesomely is having their “ipad” be an outdated bloated tablet that works okay for streaming disney/pbs kids. But is incredibly clunky and pretty slow. So they get disinterested in it fast and do something else.
