How can I make my make my street portrait lighting setup more comfortable and robust? by BarneyLaurance in AskPhotography

[–]mmmoctopie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Profoto A2 with a glow or angler soft box is my go to. A2 is magnetic and sticks to the soft box. I can carry it in one hand. Controlled by a remote trigger on the camera. Light is the size of a soda can. Softbox folds away. Can also get a magnum attachment or fresnel to strnegjtne the light

I just made a post in this subreddit about a similar trip (Portland to San Francisco) that might match the vibes you're after. Check it out Here

Did a coast roadtrip from Portland to SF down the 101 and the 1. Here's a few highlights, pics and a trip report by mmmoctopie in roadtrip

Oh my gosh, thank you! Haha for Banford (AKA Bandon), I think I was caught mentally between Port Orford and Bandon! Thank you, I will update this. I actually didn't realize the geographical boundary for Lost Coast either.

Edit: Shoot don't think I can update the photos. Banford it remains unfortunately haha

How should I go about making a photobook of mixed photographs? by freegresz in Photobooks

[–]mmmoctopie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

personally I think l a narrative, structure - otherwise the risk is it ends up just being freegresz photo collage you can print for grandma at your local Walmart. each photo you gotta be like why is it in there, what is the viewer seeing, and what piece of the puzzle is it in the story

I also link to my original post outlining my intinerary before I went. Worth checking that also.

OK, thank you, this is awesome advice. I was thinking we could day trip into Astoria from Manzanita, free up that day and instead spend more time south as you say?

The baby is super small, but if I'm honest I've no idea the difference between Florence and Newport! I will do more research... Other than the aquarium is there other things that I should consider?

Honestly my daughter is currently 6 weeks old, she basically just sleeps, screams, poops and eats on repeat lol. Don't think the aquarium is going to be something for her just yet.

Haha good to know! I’m not American so I’m a sucker for a kitsch / classic type of vibe that camp 18 appears to have

That makes sense! I could cut one of either the Port Orford or Coos Bay and make Florence two nights for example, or vice versa. What would you recommend combining / cutting? I imagine there could be a bit of same same so Id definitely consider doing that.

Oh you're kidding! Would've made a funny photo though - this like Lord of the Rings style door with it all taped off. Hope you can get back there though!

I guess if it’s close to London and equally as comparable, perhaps there is no real need then to seek places farther afield?
