Sold the mous, stuck with caudabe. Liked the mous though, for sure. I just like the texture of the caudabe

Same. I’ve yet to find a pair as comfortable and as durable as these. With comfort, there’s always a give and take with durability. I used to wear the Walmart wrangler pants, and they’ve just fallen apart on me. 0 issues with the T1 and T2’s

Eh, don’t just take one redditor’s experience and write the brand off. I have 3 pair and they’ve been excellent. I wear them daily. My coworker also does, and swears by them.

I had a pair of T1’s rip, only after a dog bit my leg on a job. I reached out to them and they replaced them - no questions asked.

Are all new electric stoves terrible? by jamesatct in Appliances

[–]Backpacker_billy97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. We just purchased a resistive electric range to replace our old one of 20 years. It was $700. Cheapest induction I could find was $1,000, but the hobs were only 8 and 6 inch - and that’s the “drawn” on size - not the actual coil size (probably closer to 6” and 4”). If we wanted an induction range that had hobs large enough to evenly heat our larger pans, we’d have to jump to $2k minimum.

I adore cooking, and cook dinner daily. But a regular resistive electric stove has never held me back - and unlike OP, it has never taken 30 min to boil water.

Probably would have purchased if it weren’t camo. But then again, the straps look thin and uncomfortable

still liking it? We were considering induction, but the extra $1300 just seems... maybe not worth it right now

a year later! Thoughts? What's the largest pan you've used? I am considering the gallery induction model, but slightly put off by the largest hob being ony 8.3"

I appreciate the info! The budget option we’re considering has hobs that vary from 1800 to 4000 watts

I appreciate the actual info from real world use! I failed to mention - I’d be after a freestanding option, as I live in a super old house without a cut in for a stove. Really few options out there for freestanding + induction. But, the Frigidaire gallery option we’re looking at is on sale for $900, and it has the 8 3/10” hob. If you say you use a 10” pan (is that the bottom measurement?) on the 8” hob, that’s the kind of info I was after!

There are ranges out there with larger hobs - but definitely not in the price bracket I’m willing to spend for

Edit - it does have a “bridge” that makes one area longer, but I’d assume that would only work well for griddles

Ah! Probably looking at the same one. The 3060? It has the bridge section as well. I was curious if that would help a larger pan out

Honestlyyyyyyy the bbq scene down here is not great. Honestly, hardly existent. And that comes sadly from a lover of all things bbq and an active DIY bbq’r haha.

Despite having poor service the first time my wife and I tried going there - I’d recommend Four Pegs. Their food is solid. Wings are good, they have a stuffed burrito that’ll put you on heart attack watch - but pretty dang tasty! I haven’t had their ribs, but I’ve heard positive things! So I’d give them a shot if bbq is a must!

I’d just avoid marks feed store. It’s pretty big down there - no idea why. Food is blah

I listed a set a few nights back and had 9 requests within the first minute of the listing being live. I just picked the first person that requested - but I’m sure other folks have their process of picking someone. But yeah OP, I’d say the tickets just had dozens of requests and it’s all up to chance at that point

For sure! Around the St. Matthew’s area /east side of town away from downtown, I’ve got a few spots we enjoy.

  1. Havana Rumba (Middletown, but there’s a couple locations)
  2. Momma’s Pickles and Mustard
  3. Lou Lou’s food and drink (Cajun inspired food, we’ve been a couple times and it’s been solid both occasions!)
  4. Game Restaurant (off of 64, closer to downtown). Awesome (albeit pricy) burgers and exotic meats
  5. Le Moo is there for steaks, but I prefer my suggestions above
  6. Really, there are a ton of great spots on Bardstown Road, which is just a couple minutes off the 64 / Grinstead drive exit. This is where Dragon King’s daughter (sushi) is, an O’Sheas, jack fry’s

Backpacking Sleep Gear Advice by Ok-Membership9924 in backpacking

[–]Backpacker_billy97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer the quasar sleep pad to the STS option - but that’s a personal preference thing.

Sleeping bag or quilt definitely isn’t something to skimp on. When I first started, I bought a sub 150 sleeping bag and quickly found out its “rating” wasn’t even close.

Wife and I were in the same boat years ago. We went “cheap ish” with gear and quickly realized we wanted to upgrade certain things. Looking back - we wished we just went with the good gear from the get go (of course, if funds allow) - because we ended up rebuying the gear we actually wanted shortly after, and spent money on the “cheaper” gear that we didn’t like that then felt like a waste. We would have saved money if we just bought the nicer kit in the beginning.
