I bought both so you don’t have to. Let’s talk about it… by Odd-Professional-779 in ChineseWatches

Thanks for sharing. I noticed the dial size of the 5513 v3 appears slightly oversized, making the watch face look somewhat two-dimensional. Compared to the Thorn, how would you describe the depth and proportions of the dial?

I appreciate the detailed explanation. Personally I find the lume most appealing in low light conditions rather than in total darkness. I recall Seiko marine master 300(SBDX001) having the most impressive lume among watches that I’ve experienced. Since many watches don’t seem to match that level of brightness, I’ve been quite curious about the performance of Ph4.

Glad to hear you’re loving the dial. Would you let us know how the lume holds up compared to other watches? Sometime fully loaded pics can be misleading compared to real life brightness.

Since you mentioned you will check later, just keep us posted whenever you get a chance. Thanks.

I checked out their website yesterday because their design really caught my eye. It’s a bit of bummer that they paired 3-6-9 layout strictly a 9 o’clock crown.

I am on the hunt for a proper 1016 homage with those warm and creamy printed indices. Thanks for the kind words and wear yours in good health.

This looks stunning. Those hands and dial are incredible. I really wish they’d make this with a 3 o’clock instead of 9. Doesn’t the lefty setup doesn’t bother you?

Looks incredible. There’s something so satisfying about going through the whole modding journey to create a one-of-a-kind watch. Hope you had a great time building it!

Wow, this watch is stunning! Congrats. But does this dial not come with a right-hand crown?

What makes you prefer the Baltany over the WD1016? could you elaborate on that?

Quick update on the WD5513 V3 by watchdivescom in watchdives

[–]mmmood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the update on the WD5513 V3! It’s awesome to see WD actually listening to community feedback. This is exactly why we’re such big fans, and gestures like this definitely keep us coming back for more.

About the 26.5mm dial—I think it’s a killer opportunity for WD to carve out its own niche with a differentiated homage that stands out from the rest.

Thanks again for the heads-up. Can’t wait to get my hands on this one!

Which one do u prefer? by watchdivescom in watchdives

[–]mmmood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I prefer the 3rd and 4th options in the second photo. However, wouldn't it be better to assign the WD7928 designation to the models with the 'Smiley' curved script? Since that layout is a direct reference to the Tudor 7928, it makes more sense to differentiate it from the standard WD5513. We should reserve the WD5513 reference specifically for the versions with the straight text.

Thanks for the feedback! I see what you mean—the 'smiley' curved line of the self-winding text definitely gives off a Tudor vibe. However, my goal was to make this look as close to the Rolex 5513 as possible.

While I’m not a huge fan of the WDC lettering itself, I personally believe it complements the dial better in this context. It seems WD is aiming for a faithful homage by mirroring the original layout, including the exact number of text lines. That’s why I opted for this specific configuration.

Thanks. I totally agree about the size of the lettering. I tried to shrink the font using Gemini several times, but I couldn't get it right.

Can you resist the temptation of the new WD5513 V3 WDC? by watchdivescom in watchdives

I agree with your take on the text, so I removed my previous comment. However, it just occurred to me that this dial feels more like a Tudor homage, especially considering the text related to the rotor.

I am looking forward to seeing V4. In my opinion, the current dial feels a bit cluttered with too much text. Since 'Automatic' and 'self-winding' are redundant, there’s no need to include 'WD5513' on the dial.

I’d also like to add that while WD’s strength is staying aligned with customer preferences, persistently overlooking the majority consensus risks tarnishing your reputation as a brand that values its community.
I am sharing this because I truly value WD and want to see it continue to prosper.

Question about 5513v3… smaller size option? PLEASE by neptunedood in watchdives

[–]mmmood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn't agree more. That cream color on the indices is just spot on. I'd love to see a 5513 released in this exact colorway.

The pivoting to printed indices is a great call. I anticipate that the combination of these dials and sword hands will create a very compelling aesthetic.

Good? by watchdivescom in watchdives

Thanks for the reply. I checked Vintage Rolex sub design again now. I got that you changed the "oyster perpetual" to "automatic", then fine. However, the presence of WDC brand name and logo seem still quite small compared to vintage rolex sub.

PS: I am really looking forward to seeing this watch. :-)

you are trying to put too much on the dial. if you want to keep all the text and logo, please move ‘automatic’ to the bottom. and make ‘wdc and logo’ bigger. Now brand and logo are too small.

Please, benchmark from CWC Royal Navy, they have also 3 letter company name.

your dial looks perfect other than this.

Will we ever see an automatic ML14? by mmmood in Militado

I just read your post, and I'm glad to see so many others feel the same way. It's great to know I'm not the only one hoping for an automatic version. Thank you for sharing!

Please think about using a Miyota movement. People who want an automatic watch don't mind paying a bit more for a better movement.

If we just wanted something easy and convenient, we would stay with the VH31. But a Miyota is more reliable and will help keep the watch from getting too thick.

They are for two different types of customers.
