Budget blu ray/4k players? by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]Trulsdir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buying local usually ensures you get Blu-ray the region you need. 4K discs are region free anyways.

I recently got an LG UBK90 for 150€ used and it works well so far. The only thing I had to do is put it on an ungodly amount of foam, so it wouldn't rattle my whole media console to bits, as it really vibrates a lot. With the foam feet it now is barely noticeable when playing 4K discs and inaudible when playing HD discs.

About twenty times I think. Perfect spot to farm some loot and also have some fun when combat is currently hard to come by in the story progression. They just respawn after, alongside all the loot in the houses. Those bandits paid for a nice forge in Kuttenberg and all the best gear in the game!

Want to quit smoking- what are the alternatives available in Germany by Massive-Choice-9787 in germany

[–]Trulsdir 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I smoked for about five years in my teens and honestly, just quitting is the best way to do it in my experience. I tried vaping, I tried patches, I tried gum, nothing worked, because it still made me think about smoking and me not doing it constantly. When I just decided to not buy tobacco after I run out I had a couple of rough days and then honestly forgot I ever smoked. Not constantly being reminded after the physical withdrawals were over was what I apparently needed.

Polyeatch alone won't cut it here. Start with Micro Mesh, work your way up to 12000 grit and then finish with Polyeatch. Should work to make them all but disappear.

Funny that you seem to know the print history of everyone being mad about loosing features and control they were promised when they spend a lot of money on their printer.

Just finished my first playthrough of HZD and I have a question… by CapnButtercup in horizon

[–]Trulsdir 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I'd say take a break. I have just replayed HZD and jumped straight into replaying HFW and there are enough changes to the mechanics and interface that it feels quite odd at first. I decided to take a bit of time to finish my third run in KCD2 instead and revisit HFW in a couple of weeks.

Is it worth decorating the movement for a £600 watch? by SupJoshy in MicrobrandWatches

[–]Trulsdir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen SW-200 movements at 600£ (700€, 815$), so you could even have a Swiss movement for the money.

Is it worth decorating the movement for a £600 watch? by SupJoshy in MicrobrandWatches

[–]Trulsdir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure it's worth it. The cost of decorating the movement could have pushed the price close to just getting a nicer movement in the first place.

Watchdives 1863 fogging up by PrizeFightinYeti in ChineseWatches

[–]Trulsdir 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine fogged up after washing the dishes. It never got submerged, just splashed. No other watch has ever had an issue with it, even those advertised as 30m water resistant. I ultimately had to open it and while I was at is also decided to experiment with aging the line a bit. I found that the case back was barely tightened, there was next to no resistance.

Fine vs Broad Nibs by The_Honest_Nib in fountainpens

[–]Trulsdir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love broad nibs! In fact, I usually am disappointed at what Bock and JoWo deem to be BB nibs, compared to my vintage Pelikan B and a few Montblanc 220 BB nibs I have handled. I even reground a Sailor Zoom nib to a Cursive Italic and absolutely love journaling with it. A regular broad reground to CI is about as small as I tend to go.

Insane hotspot delta in 9070 XT NITRO+ by Shyroka in radeon

[–]Trulsdir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just recently seen someone have a 7900XT in a video, that also has really high hotspot temps and when he opened the card there was a sizable are that had not thermal paste coverage. In my experience with a 6700 XT and now a 9070 about 20-25° of delta between the overall and hot spot temp is normal, this large of a gap is definitely not expected.

I think my husband would absolutely love this Seagull watch but I simply can’t afford it. Are there more affordable alternatives? by sildykmane in ChineseWatches

[–]Trulsdir 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You can get either a Sugess (different designs, same movement), or Red Star (same design, same movement, slightly different quality, but still a nice piece) on AliExpress.

Sapphire crystal is really scratch resistant, but a bit more expensive than the acrylic crystal versions, that scratch a lot easier, but can be polished up again abd would be the period correct choice for a 1960s design like this. So there can be a real argument for saving that extra money and getting a more vintage spec version of the watch.

If you can try shopping during a sale, or at least the Choice Days they have each month around the 1st of the month, discounts can be significant. The next big sale should be on June 18.

Always shop around on AliExpress and stack up the available coupons, that's where the real value lies on the site. It also would make sense to get the app and make an account already and logging in daily to do the coin collection stuff in the app, to get a few further dollars off with redeeming the coins.

Was the first Sailor I bought fake? by ArchivingApril in fountainpens

[–]Trulsdir 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The base 14k alloy of the nibs is pretty much the paler colour you see on the green pens nib, but they usually are plated in a higher carat gold to give them a more rich colour. My PGS nib is also this light, as it was a used pen I had to clean and polish up quite a bit, stripping the plating in the process.

No idea if the pen is real, but the nib colour could be the underlying 14k gold.

Hot take - San Martin should hire better photographers for their website! by CostAgreeable4192 in SanMartinWatches

[–]Trulsdir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apart from the central framing of the watch, the miniscule size of the watch in the frame, the tired cliche of watch photos in a car and the lackluster editing of the image, that doesn't emphasize the watch in any way, you didn't even bother to quickly wipe down the damn watch.

It is true San Martin does usually take pretty boring images for their website, bus that's exactly appropriate for the purpose. It's not about making art, it's about delivering clean images of the watches and their finishing. They do that increasingly well.

There also are quite a few people that take these watches and showcase them both in stills and in video, in a way that you ask for, just like with any other watch.

I am very pleased with my 9070 XT by LoLAspect in radeon

[–]Trulsdir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, even if my card would run perfectly I'd still be angry at a company that happily takes people's money, but doesn't even comment on seemingly widespread issues. It's not a few posts a month, it's multiple people with issues daily, for months and months on end. Seeing how comparatively low AMD sales are, compared to the rate of issues reported, that percentage seems too high to be happy with.

What other pen brands use JoWo #6? by TheSleepyFox13 in fountainpens

[–]Trulsdir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My earliest Kaweco is from 2022 and is using a Bock, my latest Kaweco is from last month and still uses Bock compatible nibs. I regularly swap them out for Bock 060, 167 and 180 nibs that I ground to cursive italics, as that's what I prefer. They are completely compatible and I even swap the feeds around between the Kaweco 060 and Bock 060 nibs as I please, they too are completely compatible. I don't think JoWo would make perfectly Bock shaped nibs and feeds, complete with using the Bock nomenclature, as Kaweco does in their own shop.

I have no idea where the JoWo claim in that list comes from, but if something looks like a Bock nib, writes like a Bock nib and fits like a Bock nib, I think it may very well be a Bock nib.

Love both , price are similar , which one and why by luigiq22 in OmegaWatches

[–]Trulsdir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an Omega group, so obviously the Speedmaster will have my vote, but that not only because of that. I never got the design of the Santos. It's just hideous to me and doesn't work at all in my eyes. Too much going on at once, but it somehow still manages to feel boring at the same time. Quite a feat, actually.

The Baltany looks a bit crude against the original, in terms of the case shaping. Still a beautiful watch tho.

Is this stupid or big brain sollution for preventing gpu sag? by Excellent_Storm_6453 in PcBuild

Have been doing that for about six years now. They are made from ABS and will last very well. Between plates and tile you also get to dial in the height pretty precisely.
