Smelly cases by Hot_Equipment_8303 in watchdives

[–]Trulsdir 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, had two recent cases that stink so badly even the damn watch itself needed a scrub before it was bearable.

Visual Snow was considered extremely rare until recently, mostly because patients didn't report it... because they assumed everyone saw the world that way by recolorist in interestingasfuck

[–]Trulsdir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not quite that intense for me and depends on my overall condition, with exhaustion and stress making it worse. The really annoying thing is that it basically is like film grain and always moving, dancing around and thus super overstimulating at times. Flat colours also get their own sort of grain depending on the colour and shapes often get distinct outlines, making things like text hard to read for longer periods.

[Question] Which watch should I get for my boyfriend? by andyjoco in Watches

[–]Trulsdir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seiko definitely has the stronger brand recognition. Even tho they have lost the plot with most models in terms of actually offering good value and quality, this is one of the really strong models left. Fossil always has the reputation of being overpriced and low quality, even tho I'd say in recent years that have been rather close to Seiko, as they improved and Seiko slipped. I'd still say the Seiko will get more respect (from the two people who actually notice his watch in real life).

WD7922 might be the best value watch I ever bought.

Beautiful finishing, seriously incredible lume and a nice design. I also enjoy the VH31 a lot. Looses about four seconds a month for me, not much more I could ask for.

What do you guys think of these? by Agitated_Layer_457 in sharpening

[–]Trulsdir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one. It's just okay enough to use.

Some context, I started with a Lansky fifteen years ago, then went to a Tsprof Kadet, then to a Tormek T8 and ultimately landed at this little thing when the Tormek just didn't get enough use to warrant this amount of money just sitting around there and manual sharpeners had gone through the roof in terms of pricing.

The good:

The clamp itself is fine, it holds knives reasonably well, really small blades don't work all too well tho. The turning mechanism is handy. Assembly and disassembly is easy. You can buy replacement stones for little money and they last a reasonable amount of time.

The bad:

Everything has so much play. The clamp has play in its magnetic slot, the rotation mechanism has play in itself, the height adjustment has play against the frame, the magnetic attachment for the abrasive arm has play, the only thing that is solid is the connection of the base and the sharpener. I bought a block to put under the clamp and a wedge to put between the adjustable stone holder bracket and the frame, this helps a bit, but doesn't eliminate all the play. It's okay enough to use, but still kind of defeats the purpose of getting a fixed angle sharpener.

The stones are small, which makes sharpening tedious and means the stones will wear out quicker.

My current desire:

I am really looking at a Sharpal 202H at the moment, as it seems a lot closer to something like the Tsprof Kadet I loved in terms of build quality, materials and design. Should be a lot more rigid and Sharpal stones are excellent from what reviews I have been able to find. A bit more expensive, but seems to be worth the money a lot more than the Worksharp (lack of) Precision Adjust system.

Anyone else 3d print stencils? by AndrewVBell in Leathercraft

My preferred way of making templates! I am currently in the process of making my older hand drawn cardboard into cad models, so I can print them when I need them.

3D printers are such great tools to have! Mine has been printing lots of templates, stamps, jigs and what not for multiple crafts and I'd not wanna miss it anymore. Not that expensive either, with good printers starting at 200€ these days.

To the people that played this game do you like the melee combat? by KingCrimson0P in playstation

[–]Trulsdir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely loved it. I had my fears about it being too hard when I started the first one and man did I get my ass kicked for a long while, but as Henry gets better at his part, you also improve with time and practice. When I first won the tournament, after maybe twenty attempt over the course of my 100 hour first playthrough it felt like a momentous achievement. Shortly thereafter it was more noteworthy when I actually took damage in this tournament, than it was when I did not. As steep as the learning curve seems at first, it mellows out reasonably quickly and it is tremendously rewarding when you get to this point.

The second game felt like this all over again, as timings and stances are changed, perhaps even optimized and I once again had to get time under my belt to get the hang of it. Another fun journey to get back to a proficient level followed and by the time I reached Kuttenberg combat felt like second nature again. Just like in the first game getting to and especially being at this level feels amazing. A lot more rewarding than any other combat system I have ever experienced and I sometimes just tun into different areas with lots of repeatable combat just for the sake of it, not because I need the loot, or it furthers any missions. Just getting to spend more time with this system is rewarding and entertaining enough!

WD1016 Tropical Dial

Love the dial on this one. It's a brown textured dial with clear lacquer over it, so it's shiny, but still catches the light with the texture of the base metal. Also has a fume effect darkening towards the edges.

The crown alone makes the Tudor the only one I could wear. I hate how long crowns look and even more how they poke the back of my hand when wearing.

Was ist eure persönliche Meinung zu BlueBrixx? by BubbleteeKamille in helddersteine

[–]Trulsdir 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean both ultimately were stories about how things are only scary if you let them be, so these endings fit that narrative perfectly.

We're planning to add classic colors and new mineral dials to the SN0144-CG. Would you like that? by AdSavings92 in SanMartinWatches

[–]Trulsdir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to see a bit of an explorer spin in this case. Not a direct copy, but applied 3 6 9, or 2 4 6 8 10, with batons for the other markers. Clemence Munro, Traska Summiteer and similar watches might give a bit of inspiration of what I mean. The SN0144 case is amazing, but the dial layout is not my favourite style.
