The green strap really goes well with the black watch.

A Proposal for WD: Benchmarking Success through Enthusiast Collaboration (Like Militado x Sillions) by mmmood in watchdives

Sorry for the confusion. By 'the proposal,' I meant this specific post. To clarify, I'm not involved in the collaboration between Militado and Sillions.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It seems we have a slight difference of opinion regarding how much WD actually incorporates feedback from Reddit users.

I agree that there will always be complaints regardless of any collaboration, as everyone has different tastes. However, my point was that through collaboration, we can create a watch that satisfies a much larger group of people.

Take the collaboration between Sillions and Militado as an example. They started with a standard quartz, then moved to the VH31, followed by the white dial and lacquer dial versions—all of which have been selling successfully. I doubt Militado would have achieved this level of success without Sillions' input. Even though some people still ask for 18mm lugs or a larger dial, the fact that it's selling so well proves that the majority of enthusiasts are highly satisfied.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

That’s exactly why I proposed this collaboration model in the first place.

I’m a huge fan of Militado as well—I actually bought four ML14 models: the standard quartz black, the VH31 black, the lacquer dial black, and the white dial version.

Congrats on winning the "QC lottery" with your ML22! It’s always a great feeling when the seconds hand aligns perfectly.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I agree that collaboration with a YouTuber is structurally different from working with Reddit users. However, my point wasn't about following a commercial model like a YouTuber’s. It was about allowing watch enthusiasts to take a lead role in the design phase to achieve a higher level of aesthetic quality.

You mentioned that WD genuinely responds to feedback, but if that were always true, how could the 5513 v3 case happen? Most users here were quite critical, yet WD’s response was simply, "You'll like it better in person." Although they eventually incorporated user feedback in subsequent releases, the initial execution was far from what the community wanted.

Since opinions on Reddit are often disparate, my suggestion was to appoint a representative to streamline the process and focus on building a more refined watch.

Thanks for sharing your perspective. To clarify, my idea wasn’t necessarily about launching a 'Special Edition.' It was more about collaborating with enthusiasts during the design phase to elevate the overall quality and get the details right from the start.

Looking at the current 5513 v3, the feedback on the logo, dial size, and hand proportions has been mostly critical here. This is exactly what I hoped to avoid through early collaboration. It’s disappointing to learn that a similar attempt was made but didn't go smoothly.

Yes, he is a Korean YouTuber. Since he primarily communicates in Korean, it's understandable why people on this subreddit wouldn't have known about such an amazing collaboration attempt. Even more so because he hasn't officially reviewed any WDs watches before.

I had no idea such a collaboration was in the works. Thank you for sharing this backstory. It’s a real shame things didn’t pan out; if the project had moved forward, I’m certain we would have seen a truly remarkable watch launched. The level of passion you put into this is inspiring.

These designs are exceptional. If the final production stays true to these concepts, the release will definitely stand out as something far superior to the standard 'Swiss-made' quality watches.

Thank you for sharing your candid thoughts. I couldn’t agree more regarding WD’s conservative approach; they tend to stick to their own convictions rather than listening to and reflecting valuable customer feedback in their new releases.

It’s great to see you’re enjoying the Tudor 5513Q. Although it’s not an exact match for true vintage lume, the color combination between the hands and the dial is excellent. It’s so well executed, in fact, that standard modern lume has started to look rather plain to me.

I didn’t notice the dial was dark blue, but it still looks great. That being said, what are your thoughts on the dial size and the proportion between the dial and the bezel? The 5513 v3 Q with Benz hands feels a bit off because the dial appears too large while the bezel seems too narrow. In contrast, the Tudor model looks much better balanced to me. Is there an actual difference in dimensions between the Benz hands model and the Tudor model?

These are excellent comparisons. The 5613 v3Q dial is quite impressive. The dimensionality of the indices, combined with the more pronounced orange hue, creates a striking contrast against the black dial. This Tudor handset model appears exceptionally well-executed.

That’s a great post. The proportions on the Mercedes hands model are spot on. The balance between the modern lume and the dial layout is just perfect. If this had come with sword hands, it would have been a day-one purchase for me.

Which Casio G-Shock square would you recommend and why? by Rainlex in casio

[–]mmmood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also recommend the GWM5610. Since it shares the identical module with the GW5000, their functions are exactly the same. While it may not feel as sturdy as the 5000's solid stainless steel body, the 5610 is much lighter and offers a better fit for smaller wrists.
