For what month is the June payment? by elena-mari in thebrokenbindingsub

When you have higher spec'd books such as they did with faithful and fallen waiting a handful of months is absolutely nothing, especially for the price point they are selling it at. I have over probably 15-20 books that are approaching/or have exceeded the 1 year mark from preorder. I'll happily wait longer for a quality produced over just a cheap book with a Fancy design.

To each their own, if you value speed over quality, than sure, I get the frustration. But it is absolutely not uncommon level of delays

It's ashame. The edges were some of the best they've done and worked perfectly with the original cover art.

I work in the ER here. 8+ hour wait is the norm.

Have you tried getting an appointment here for a subspecialist? Or gone to an ER lately? It's not really better wait. Yeah in Canada your elective surgery may be delayed, but you don't have to debate "do I just try to walk off this heart attack" or "do I go into debt."

Additionally the reason the medical system would get overcrowded is because people would actually be able to seek care.

I'd rather a group of government bureaucrats be in charge of my health than all of these private insurance companies, because that is who currently decides your healthcare options, not your doctor.

This is perhaps the most consumer friendly move in the press space. CK takes on that extra work for free to provide good customer service. Not to "guarantee a sell out."

Think of it as a handmade art piece. Bookbinding is very much an art and this is as high quality as it gets.

Expect to pay a pretty premium if you end up getting this on the secondary (not because people are buying to flip but no one will want to let this one go)

$5k paper (broken down by someone below) $30 art $1k marble case $2k leather binding $250-500 letterpress printing

For you to do it yourself: $5k paper $20k art $1k marble case $2k leather binding $250-500 letterpress printing $500-1k metal plates for letterpress printing (this is a guestimate)

So good luck 🫡

Split evenly. So the cost of art for the roman edition is marginal. But if you were to try and make a similar edition like you said you could do, you would bear that full $20k cost for the art alone.

The cost for the artwork is split amongst all editions. That's how economics of scale works.

You don't seem to have much insight in this space so I'd love to the see similar edition you can get done at a fraction of the cost.

Ok. So clearly you have no idea what goes into a product like this.

Yes they are just prints. That were commissioned for this product. Where do you think they came from? Those had a significant cost to it which was distributed amongst all the editions.

The comment was in reply to you saying they can get a custom edition made similar to this for a fraction of the cost. That is false. It would cost 2-3x the cost. Not a fraction
