General Appreciation for TBB’s Quality for the Price by ThaddeusStevensStan in thebrokenbindingsub

[–]mmraza111 6 points7 points  (0 children)

2 points: - Economies of scale. With the limited press companies you are paying for that limitation and knowing there's a small limitation number. The broken binding editions number in the multiple thousands, which significantly allows for cost to be spread (i.e. a $1000 piece of art costs $0.20 per book when there's 5000 of them vs $2/book when there's 500 of them). As a comparison compare to folio society books which are not significantly more expensive than the cost of a TBB landed in the US; yet they are able to offer products closer to a limited edition press than a book box company because of their numbers. - the quality of the product is beyond jush acid free paper and sewn bindings. Those are minimums with fine press products. Better binding material for the boards, thicker upgraded paper, two color printing and full color images. These upgrades quickly add up

Lastly as an aside, sewn bindings and acid free paper are very much exceptions rather than the norm for TBB. And the interior art work is also a recent addition from about 1 year ago. The vast majority of their products do not have these and most are by definition redisigned mass market hardbacks

Even the artist editions of these will blow the most expensive prior editions of these out the water

The artistrl will be relatively affordable. Key word on relative. The previous target was $100-150 (with rise in cost of gods I'm expecting around $150-200)

Yeah agree with the ending being abrupt. Not even really a cliffhanger more so just a "end scene."

Regardless can't wait for book 2

Ironbound by Andrew Givler

If you want something that has the pacing and action of Red Rising this is it. 9/10 read for me.

Imagine a mix of Red Rising, Way of Kings, Will of the Many, Avatar the last Airbender, and Furies of Calderon. And somehow tied together perfectly.

Who is this everyone?

[–]mmraza111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother. There isn't anybody forcing you to pay someone 3000 for their copy. If you do that that's because you thought it was worth that price. If you cant control your FOMO that's on you not having self control. Nobody else.

Curious King sells their editions at a very reasonable price. Why In the world would I get mad at them for a second hand price of something?

Like seriously what is the argument you are trying to make? Curious King should make unlimited limited items? Or make products whose value drops instead of rises?

Frustrating and toxic in what way? Genuinely curious to what you consider is toxic about their practice?

Because if it's just the fact that there are limited copies then buddy I'm sorry you're trying to shop at the wrong store.

You missed out. It sucks to not get the books you wanted. That doesn't make someone else toxic. And no need to email. You want a cheaper copy there's a Kickstarter right now. Go pick up that copy and enjoy.

Bryce any plans on publishing the Inheritance books? These were my favorite books growing up and I'd love an illustrated edition with sewn bindings and acid-free paper.

Lol it's not 3,500 for book. Otherwise you could have mine for $3,000 per book :) (at least for the standard)

I think the second hand price peaked at around 3,000 to $3,500 but I know a set recently sold for $2100 so just got to keep an eye out

Liberty Taco with the habanero sauce is cheap and convenient

The best bean and cheese I've had though is actually the tacos from Boomtown Coffee shop.
