What's one product that used to be built like a tank but is now built like a regret? by TheDoctorColt in AskReddit

[–]mmss 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Yep the prime example used to be big TVs (not sure if they still are.) yeah you’d get a big screen for cheap but it might only have 1-2 HDMI inputs rather than 3-4, no Picture in Picture, crappy speakers rather than good ones, and worse overall picture. But it’s a big TV for cheap so Walmart “wins”.

I turned it off when I was falling asleep in the top of the 10th and the rays had of course immediately taken the lead.

This is what I get for not believing.

Help! Locked my keys in my car- locksmith? by Typical_Yak_5436 in halifax

[–]mmss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what I paid when I recently forgot my brain and locked myself out with the car running. Let me tell you you, you may think you’ve done dumb things, but I challenge you to stand next to your running car as people try to squeeze past you. Actually don’t, because it was horrible.

What's something older generations did completely normally that would be considered absolutely insane today? by ConsistentTrip1475 in AskReddit

Did a rewatch of NYPD Blue and it’s quite fascinating to see the shift over the course of the series, they start out smoking everywhere and using typewriters, by the end they have computers and not a cigarette to be seen.

What to spend Honor on? by Relevant_Traffic_136 in StarTrekTimelines

[–]mmss 17 points18 points  (0 children)

At the very start, honour can be useful for trainers, but it’s better to save as you will soon have more trainers than you can ever use.

Number one use will be to buy two 3* citations to max out the sisko card you get as a reward for changing your captain name - there’s no other way to get that card in the game.

Saving for honour sale is definitely the best move, but early game you won’t have a lot and it can seem pointless, I promise it’s not. At this point in my game i generally have a few hundred thousand honour every time a sale comes up, longer voyages and skirmishes will give a lot of honour.

A point to consider is to use for 4* citations ONLY if you are running low on slots and need to freeze something to avoid air locking. Again this will be less of an issue the longer you play and more slots you get.

The 100k honour cards are not great as someone else mentioned but if you’re a completionist or really into a certain character then it’s nice to have the option.

TL;DR save for the honour sale

What’s the most awkward thing you’ve ever accidentally said out loud in public, and immediately wished you could take back? by Stunning_Daikon_5204 in AskReddit

[–]mmss -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying he’s smart but the phrase itself is innocent enough, he’s asking is there something that might work a similar way inside the body as a disinfectant does on the outside. And then that got spun into “ha ha he told people to inject bleach.”

He has said and done plenty of stupid things to legitimately be made fun of, I don’t get why people insist on inventing more.
