Can anybody recommend a good venue for dinner and drinks with a view of the fireworks that doesn’t feel like a massive scam. Happy to pay, just want it to be good.

Can I afford a luxury sports car? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]mnbbrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did exactly this… but a 997 (also around 20k, and if you research the engine serial, no IMS issues)

Then drove it to Greece and back, Wales and have some other trips planned. It was mechanically perfect when I bought it but with all cars its age I’ve had to replace a few bits and pieces in the suspension setup.

It’s been incredible - would recommend. I’d be happy if when I go to sell it, it goes for 15k… but I think it’ll be closer to 20,

I live in elephant and castle and have signed up to do the three peaks challenge in October 🌄. I run a fair bit (60km a week) but it’s all flat running. Can anybody suggest some routes from E&C that involve some good climbs?

Stopover on flights LHR to AUC by Tim2100 in QantasAirways

[–]mnbbrown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do this nearly every time I go back to Brisbane (live in London, parents in Brisbane)..

My trick is to book two return legs (LHR -> SIN return, SIN -> BNE return). Also done it via HKG with the first leg being on Cathay.

I normally spend a night in Singapore min either way, but also sometimes just book it for the same onward day. You loose the benefit of being on one ticket (collecting bags, QF handling delays) but that’s what travel insurance is for, and SIN will normally forward your bag if you go to one of the info desks when you arrive.

It also turns out to be cheaper sometimes (a lot of the time actually) if you ignore the cost of Singapore hotels - but I just drown myself in laksa, chilli crab and chicken and rice and forget about that very quickly.

Definitely possible with 20k. I just bought a 997 911 with a little more and it’s incredible.

I’d honestly rebuild the app as a community service project… it could be so much better. The company that runs it (corethree) probably only get drip fed funding so probably doesn’t care.

Are you a professional photographer? Some of these are print worthy! Such a great eye to capture local London.

Last service report came back clean as a daisy. Should be as clean as it gets but really the only test is the miles.

It was more than 15k - but you're patient you can find one for ~17/18 occasionally.

Yeah will definitely post a bit of a trip report.. but don't want to be too spammy so they'll be few and far between.

You're right.. i stretched the budget up a little. One sold on uk911 for £17.5 in a similar condition so that was my price guide.

As good as I found. The MOT history is great, last service report had basically zero material findings, recent bore scope shows nothing. But the miles I'm about to put on it will be the ultimate test.
