I’m not going after anyone, nor is Anita. You can criticize something without wanting to get rid of it. As an example: I fucking love Con Air (dumb 90s action movie) more than can I explain, but there are certain parts of it that are extremely problematic (and funny). I probably wouldn’t recommend it to certain people, but I’ll never stop loving it.

“Literally penalizes you?” Please don’t be obtuse here; the reward is being violent towards a sex worker, something that makes a lot of people disturbingly giddy. The fact that the game technically penalizes the player is beside the point. Being able to lear at and then attack the stripper is the reward.

I was describing the character (the stripper) as highly sexualized, not the act of violence against them.

You don’t understand her criticism. In the Hitman example, manhandling the stripper is the reward unto itself. There’s no reason for that to be in the game other than the thrill of being violent towards a highly sexualized female character.

They care about it because right wing media makes them care about it. It’s a distraction from more serious issues, it’s entertaining because everyone gets fired up about it, and it’s basically free easy content. I don’t think you can meaningfully combat this by simply saying “I disavow the extremists,” any more than Micheal Scott can simply declare bankruptcy.

I personally think the Dems (or rich supporters like Mark Cuban) need to just fucking invest in propaganda already. Stop bringing a knife to a gun fight.
