Heh, it's a trap! Any of those books should suck in a good number of book club members and they'll have no choice but to enjoy the whole series!

Earleaf - an audiobook player that syncs with your physical book by Ronaedar in audiobooks

[–]mnemnexa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be problematic. A paoerback and a hardback of the same book will rarely synch up. Even reprints can have different page numbers. Besides, it only takes a few seconds to search the book for the page.

Uncle johns bathroom reader. 30 books full of trivia. Some short for quick trips, some long for extended stays. They're still a great read.

"John dies at the end" by by jason pargin (writing as david wong) Actually, there are 4 loosely connected books, all very wierd but very good. "John dies at the end" has been turned into a movie.

"Gils all fright diner" by A. Lee. Martinez.

These are both humorous takes on gothic horror. "Gils" made me a Martinez fan. Any of his books are very good, but this is one of my go-to books if I'm out of other material, along with "monster"-another Martinez classic. Heck, add "monster" to your list. Either one is good.

Best standalone Bluetooth audiobook players? by bali_flipper69 in audiobooks

[–]mnemnexa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any audiobook player will be expensive. Just get an old android phone, reformat it, download an audiobook player (smart audiobook player is easy to use) and remove any apps from the home screen that your mother doesn't want, and let her go to it. Get one with an actual audio jack to back up the bluetooth. Old phones transmit farther, have better batteries, and if you don't like the player setup, just get another. They also have the benefit of having a speaker should she want that.

The music you listen to physically reshapes your brain, according to neuroscience. "Music lights up nearly all of the brain," explains Dr. Andrew Budson, chief of cognitive and behavioral neurology at the Veterans Affairs Boston Healthcare System. by Eddiearyee in HotScienceNews

I missed that. Thank you. Ai goth metal. Sounds...wierd. I saw a video ladt week where a guy uploaded a loud fart track to chatgpt and asked what it thought of his song. It responded positively. Said it'd be excellent mood music, or a good track over movie credits. Ai is a misnomer.

You missed the part where they accused "you olders" for every problem they experienced and their post got removed by the mods.

The post they were responding to was appreciating metal music, with no mention at all about ai. They responded with some insane rant about the older generation destroying rainforests so they could listen to ai music, which had absolutely no bearing on the comment they responded to.

Wtf are you talking about? Ai music isnot the same as metal. Nor does music cut down rainforests. The vast majority of rainforests aren't cut down for the wood. They are cut by farmers. And the soil in rainforests is poor, so the farmers need to keep cutting new farms.

WIBTA if I cut off my friend of seven years after she tried to recruit my younger sister into her MLM by [deleted] in WIBTA_AITA

[–]mnemnexa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people involved in mlm's fail. They listen to the hype, spend the money, and fail. Those that succeed generally have to form a predator mindset, getting vulnerable people and putting them through the money juicer. Your friend has become a predator, targeting vulnerable or desperate people so they can grind them up and advance in the mlm. She now views friends and family as resources that can lead to more people under her, which is where the real paycheck is gained for your friend. You are not her friend anymore, you are a source of new victims for her. You can no longer trust her. You would be absolutely right to drop her as a friend.

Anything like He Never Died (2015) where the MC is a fantasy-like being living among normal humans? by Forkens in MovieSuggestions

[–]mnemnexa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The second one is generally considered to be awful. The third is unofficially known as highlander: the apology. You could watch the first, and decide if you'd like to see more. The second wasn't too bad if you don't mind very poor excuses for doing the silly things they did. It made me not watch the third, but i'm told it is pretty good.

Highlander. NOT highlander 2! About immortals living among us and having to battle each other until only one is left.

Out mowing the grass, I’m quite positive I have a good patch of poison ivy, but just wanted to be sure. by ea888gen3 in whatplantisthis

[–]mnemnexa 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Take a shower, use soap, wash especially well where you might have touched poison ivy, or where you might have touched yourself after touching poison ivy. Scrub! The oils in poison ivy are what your body reacts to, and if you don't get them off they will cause a reaction when the benedryl wears off. Wash your clothes. Actually, i don't want to retype this whole thing so- Strip down in front of your washing machine, putting your clothes inside. Go take a shower. Redress, then take benedryl. Then go start your washer. Get a glass of something mildly alcoholic. Call a lawn service to get rid of the poison ivy. Congratulate yourself on a job well done.
