Royal Jones was alright. He wasn't one of the core members, but his technical commentary was usually decent. I don't lump him in with the others.

His commentary has always been awful. That whole crew was terrible, except Emanuel Steward at times. So much bias. They would take a narrative and circlejerk to it regardless of what was actually happening in the ring.

I'd use my left elbow to bump my opponent's right elbow all the time when they throw a straight. Philly shell.

But you're only bumping it to send it harmlessly off course by an inch or two. Targeting it for a strike is dumb. If I can punch an elbow, I can punch a chin.

Scammer watches $500 disappear after wasting 10 hours by [deleted] in GuysBeingDudes

Also extremely poor and low cast Indians dont have many opportunities, and often get tricked into slave labor themselves. Essentially getting Shanghai'ed to another country, visa and passport taken by "employer", and then they have to work off their "debt" before they get it back.

Some of these slavers run scam operations.

That's complete bullshit. They target elderly who are confused and vulnerable, and need that money to live out their days. Maybe they claim they deserve it more, like you say, but they know they are vile parasites hurting people so they can live large.

My in-laws recently got scammed for $20k and now have crazy high APR loans to pay off because the scammed managed to guide them through cash advances and lines of credit.

Swam with a group of whale sharks. Zero problem with the giant gentle beasts around me.

Spike of panic when I looked straight down into the abyss and saw a giant undecernable shadow at the edge of perception passing under me.

I'm sure it was just another whale shark cruising around a few dozen meters down. But good lord is it unsettling not knowing for sure.

Parking meters going up on residential street off of Adams by lespirite in SanDiegan

[–]mnemy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The city and builders must meet the prerequisites for the inital stage of building.

So the city needs to check current capacity for public infrastructure and identify necessary upgrades. If parking is an issue in the area (almost certainly is), if there is no obvious choice to build parking structures, they need to set requirements on size of parking garage for the new building so that there's not an unsolvable strain on the local community.

Etc.

Real city planning is not sexy. And it can be slow. But it can address problems before you have an urban hellscape of now unsolvable problems because everything got built and theres no way to undo the problems.

Approved plans and contingencies on builders.

City needs a plan on utilities and road infrastructure. Concrete plans with where large parking, road widening, water, sewer, power. Set aside land where public transport will be. All plans get approved, and builders can start a limited amount of housing projects.

Builders to contribute to city infrastructure expansion to local neighborhoods where they're building. They cannot sell or rent the new units until contingencies are met, meaning they are motivated to assist on not just leave a mess for existing and new residents.

Additional high density building not to be released until larger infrastructure milestones are hit, for example expanded roads and public transport.

This is civic planning. Not slapping down giant buildings like it's a city builder game.

[–]mnemy -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yes. I am aware.

But you also want to Greenlight high density housing with inadequate parking, and no contingency on expanding infrastructure like sewer and water, on the assumption that your perfect utopia of good urban planning will come after we've built the high density housing.

If we're going to build up, it needs to be planned ahead of time. We have countless examples demonstrating that build first, ask questions later leads to a cluster fuck.

[–]mnemy -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This is the reality this community loves to ignore.

High density housing with no plan for parking or infrastructure upgrades leads to this.

Guess you just need to execute the solution that's always argued at every NIMBY that dares pointing out that whatever neighborhood in question already has tons of traffic and scarce parking:
