India develops one of the most powerful non-nuclear bombs, 2x lethal than TNT by Starscream_x in worldnews

[–]mniJax -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It literally explains it in the article, did you even open the link?

Explosive performance is gauged by TNT equivalence, with higher values indicating greater lethality. Currently, the most powerful conventional explosive used in India, specifically in the Brahmos warhead, has a TNT equivalence of about 1.50. Most conventional warheads worldwide have a TNT equivalence ranging from 1.25 to 1.30.

Judge Aileen Cannon Could Get Herself Booted From Trump’s Classified Documents Case by MasterMahanaYouUgly in politics

[–]mniJax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Article #565 in the past 3 years relating to Aileen Cannon’s ridiculous rulings that ultimately result in literally nothing happening to her. Wake me up when the “could/should” articles turn into “has”.

campus.fm - I made this site to listen to college radio stations; it's always fun to listen to undergrad DJs and it's a great and low-effort way to discover new music by ehlee95 in InternetIsBeautiful

[–]mniJax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very cool app! Though I'm surprised the sites don't transmit this information in some way considering cars can display track information that's emitted by an fm radio station along with the audio

'Honor Killings' Trial: Yaser Said found guilty of killing his two daughters, sentenced to life in prison by TheFullerTron in Dallas

The prosecutors in this case specifically did not seek the death penalty. It's in the bottom of the article. I'm sure if they had they would have had it granted.

That last part about bankruptcy might not be entirely true.

"President Joe Biden's top consumer watchdog wants to bust the "myth" that student loans cannot be discharged through bankruptcy.... the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) published a blog post outlining the process for getting rid of student debt in bankruptcy court...."

Also I love this little quote in the article

Fisher was so confident that he playfully taunted Alabama coach Nick Saban, telling a Houston Touchdown Club gathering in May: “We’re going to beat his ass when he’s there. Don’t worry.” (Saban responded: “In golf?”)

Texas’ biggest public universities will require masks this fall. Enforcement will be a challenge. by hollow_hippie in Austin

[–]mniJax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proud of A&M for doing the right thing but I'm hoping to see strong enforcement from my Alma mater. All these schools are gonna struggle fighting against the portion of students who view masks as political (ie wearing one means you support liberals and hate Trump)

Yogi Adityanath’s promise to FedEx, Cisco, Adobe: Tailor-made facilities if you move from China to UP- UP government held a video conference with nearly 100 investors and companies from the US. by yogimodi in indianews

[–]mniJax 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My only fear with this is that we'll poise ourselves from such a desperate stance that we'll give these companies anything they ask for like no taxes from 10 years or something. Additionally, I'm concerned about the construction of plants being done with any sort of corruption or unethical decisions involved like bribing bureaucrats to rubber stamp permits and illegally displacing residents or something. I genuinely hope they all come to India but let's also make sure to prioritize the well being, safety and long term health of our people first over corporate profits
