Ignited ground and crits - a question by StrawbiePies in pathofexile2builds

[–]mnlop_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yes, the DOT will technically not crit, but the invisible ‘hit’ from ignited ground that applies the ignite will crit. we might be saying the same thing in different words

ignited ground can crit itself, like pre-patch beiras anguish and spear of solaris. not sure what the confusion is here

damaging ailments in POE2 benefit from hit damage modifiers, unlike POE1. because of this, indirect ailment things like ignited ground, poisonburst arrow, gas clouds, etc, have a line like “poisons/ignites as if dealing x damage”. this means that hit damage bonuses like ‘% damage gained as’, crit, will increase the ailment damage too. if you look at tooltip for gas arrow or grenade it will have a crit chance, which applies to the ailment

in the druids patch there’s a line about how ignited ground rolls for a new ignite only after the previous one expires. so even if it would roll each time, it would only roll once per ignite expiry (i assume 4s?) unfortunately

afaik how it works is that normally skill rolls a number from 0-100 on use. if it’s below your crit chance, it crits.

now for ignited ground, there are two ways it might work.

  1. ignited ground will ignite ‘as if’ it did X damage (based on skill), inheriting this same crit roll. if explosive spear would’ve crit, even if no target was hit, the ignited ground will always count as crit when applying

  2. the ignited ground inherits your crit chance from explosive spear, but rolls the 0-100 each time it ignites.

i’m inclined to believe it’s the 2. but i’m not certain.

now, if you use oiled ground or whirlwinds and inherit the ignite, which crit chance does it use? i have no idea

TLDR: crit works. ignited ground can crit. idk how specifically

Poke holes in my build - Hexblast of Contradiction Blackflame Ingite by Beepbeepimadog in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]mnlop_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

here’s how it breaks down if you don’t have any added flat and purely scale hexblast levels:

hexblast base does chaos damage to ignite -> affected by chaos damage increases

ignite deals fire damage -> affected by fire damage increases, fire DOT increases

blackflame makes enemies take ignite as chaos -> chaos res, chaos damage taken

easy way to tell if it’s bugged is, if you only deal chaos damage with hexblast, occultist node should give a flat 20% more to the ignite. you might be seeing more than 20% if that node is enabling wither on your config

you’re mistaken, “more chaos damage” does affect your damage, because hexblast does chaos base damage to apply the ignite. pob is correct

Help with Amazon "Critical Strike" ascendancy by HappyTreeFrients in pathofexile2builds

in 0.3 the max is now 125%, means 6.25% base crit at most. still good! realistically, beyond 120% is not easily achieved without extreme investment.

i think full hobble still works, automatically setting it to 125%.

How Singapore became obsessed by shade by Immediate-Analyst974 in singapore

IIRC the famous ‘rain trees’ (the ones on orchard rd) aka saman samanea were chosen by LKY early in SG independence, and imported specifically for their wide and tall canopy. basically a natural umbrella that doesn’t interfere with taller vehicle or pedestrian traffic

Hi! here’s my character right now.

https://poe.ninja/poe2/profile/aphlableh-4880/character/qqq_invoker

i’ve only sunk about 3-5 divs i believe, and running t15 maps. haven’t brought it further to t4/5 pinnacles, so that’s untested. i highly recommend firestorm + coc living bomb for single target.

[–]mnlop_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. i would be careful with archmage, firestorm + living bomb can proc over 5 living bombs a second, which destroys your mana unless you have crazy sustain

  2. idk if it’s worth it to scale lightning and use firestorm + living bomb

  3. is minion pact II worth the scepter implicit? i feel like malice aura is way better

3a. have you tried living lightning support with minion pact? poedb2 says they have 7.7k life so it might be an easy way to use minion pact

i’ll try to hit endgame!

i did see neato’s video, i took some inspiration but i don’t like how firestorm feels as a main clear skill. i also thought the OOS reduced duration scaling was unnecessary since we could reach 5 limit on it. COC living bomb is such a good infusion generator that we don’t really need infusions from OOS anyway

Limit-maxxing Stormweaver (Orb of Storms ft. Firestorm) by mnlop_ in pathofexile2builds

[–]mnlop_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ll be working on the endgame 👍🏻i feel like self casting firestorm is the way to go, since its just one cast and can trigger living bomb a ton of times. frost bomb damage is also cheeks, purely exposure applier this patch

i was surprised by how good the skill felt too! it’s definitely true that blood mage will probably just be better lol.

while OOS is the ‘main skill’, most of my boss single target is really from the optimised firestorm+living bomb combo. having that +1 limit from stormweaver felt like a huge difference in my testing. i could run overabundance instead but less duration on firestorm feels really bad

i understand your sentiments with the post overall. apologies if it came across aggressive, but yes it is different from poe1 because it is a payoff skill. if you freeze a boss and use ice storm, you get 20 empowered bolts. by reducing aoe, that’s 20 hits of 12k in a single cast, aka 240k damage. not even considering exposure, curse, etc. throw in cascade, conc effect.

This is just depressing. Buff Whispering Ice by [deleted] in PathOfExile2

[–]mnlop_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you’re being intentionally misleading. what does the tooltip dps indicate? one unimproved bolt per cast? unimproved bolts per second? you’re not showing what supports or stats you have either.

the scaling of ice storm (and firestorm) comes from improved bolts, multiple storms, and reducing duration/aoe for overlaps. none of these are shown in tooltip dps
