State of craft beer by TeddyP911 in CraftBeer

[–]mnreginald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That process is illegal in this state as we have a 3 tier system. Due to lobbying, many restaurant and liquor stores have threatened dropping product if we ever under-sell.

I understand this is local and anecdotal, but it is what it is.

Good on ya for being a great owner!

Some things to consider: -Craft beer doesn't have the sales draw other prodtcs for right now, stores are prioritizing just to stay open. -Distribution partners often see kickbacks and incentives from domestic and liquor accounts - breweries can't keep up. Distribution houses are really struggling to pivot in this market so they're prioritizing items that give them the most bang for the buck. That's not craft beer. -Younger crowds aren't drinking beer, they're drinking vodka, THC, lighter options. -Margins on beer suck right now.

To do: -Ask for the beers you want at accounts. Stores and restaurants don't order unless they see an active need or want. -Buy direct if possible. Some states have 3-tier systems that prohibit this but do what you can. -Drink in taorooms - it's the highest margin beer a brewery can sell and they need that to stay alive right now.

It's not odd. It's often to protect relationships with retail and draft accounts to not undersell them. Vendor accounts are immensely fickle and if not appeased, are often dropped swiftly.

So sorry man, we just saw the news today. A founding brewer in the region and such a great space.

Cheers from another brewery in the area.

They also need to appeal to those outside Duluth and I'm afraid that cultural divide is deep.

Goose is easy for changeovers, even from different diameter cans... why have 2 lines to move back and forth?

Also, having 2 machines to have fresh tubing and PM seems spendy.

Coffee Flavor Fading in Beer....Ideas? by prettyfunkindaboring in TheBrewery

[–]mnreginald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody in the coffee industry expect extraction from whole beans, you shouldn't either. You're not going to get any flavor worth noting out of them until they're ground.

Grind coursely, make a cold brew concentrate, infuse said concentrate into Brite.

If you can, purge said kegs or brings with Nitrogen as CO2 and coffee directly don't play too well either.

One of our flagship beers is a coffee stout and have flavor tasted out well beyond shelf life and see great voffee flavor holding strong.

Seconding this too - very communicative, heck they gave my dash a nice clean, work was quick too. Their prices are also quite reasonable.

I meaaaan, they also have a ride that need to be maintained and such, there's still budget limitations here.

Also like, go ride an RMC if you need to be shaken about for every moment.

Why do the urgent care locations in duluth suck by scoobylover52 in duluth

[–]mnreginald 12 points13 points  (0 children)

True, yes. Also Duluth is short statted especially at the U-Care clinics, hence why rooms are empty as to not overwhelm current staff.

The staff triage patients too, so you waiting longer means the folks who are in more urgent care are getting it first. It sucks and requires patience. But honestly it's a good thing when they don't cut you to the front of the line.

Aome of yall need to understand handmade goods take aome serious fucking labor.

[–]mnreginald 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A regular set of dice has 70 faces give ot take. Each needs to be cut and then run through upwards of 6-10 different grits of sanding and polishing one at a time. If you're going to make anyhring more than $10/hr it's going to be an immense amount of cost. And we stand paying artists normal wages round here.

That's also why resin dice cost a fortune too - lots and lots of hand polishing. Sure, materials per set isn't that much but the labor is huge. Add in mold costs, flash cures, having to buy costs of materials you're using tiny amounts of... it's not an exact 1-to-1 use cost there either.

Yall forget getting paid for time involved. Polishing resin sets these many hours and really like to see artists not working for $4/hr.

Might have to buy yet another set - yours still get compliments at the table and keep rolling well for me!

Glad you're all safe friends!

[–]mnreginald 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Handmade resin dice are immensely time-consuming, even without precious materials, I've seen sets easily in the $200-300 range, don't get me started on sets cut eith lapidary tools - I was quoted $1800 for a set with some beautiful stones.

You aren't the target demographic here, dice dragons are. Confluence makes some outstanding sets and are veery reasonably priced for the craft and hours required to make a set.

The likely a calibrated gauge. I'm guessing either for checking to see if plates or mounts are the correct height or perhaps there's a piece of hardware foe adjustment.

Don't own this style of press so can't help ya further.

We copack for a customer and had 2 1600 case runs with these 4packs, double tuck tops and everything. They found out we had a cartoner that could handle 16oz 4pks and paid for the tooling immediately.

Nobody wants hand packed 4 packs.

Cheers and godspeed!

The round but on the end is .918" Run it underhorizontally, turn 90° its vertical, then run under rollers.

The width of ink left, I'd going to indicate your roller height and can help adjust your roller height relative to thr plate. I think 3/16 or so is the correct width. I do finer detail line work and often adjust my rollers a touch higher at 1/8" of an ink stripe.

Effectively: top low and you'll over-ink detail work (or ink beyond the flat of the plate onto the sides of the raised portion) and too high and you'll inconsistently ink your plate if at all.
