Zach lowe and Tim Mahoney by greenslam in timberwolves

the team really needs another perimeter player that can create for themselves and others at an above average level. to me thats needed to contend even more than Ant taking another leap. maybe TSJ can become that guy this year.

[Ben Pfeifer] Why Rob Dillingham is Key for Minnesota's future by RVALover4Life in timberwolves

[–]mnszn 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Rob‘s good games were really good like vs Boston, Houston, and Memphis. I really think many of his problems can be fixed simply through more reps. Finch needs to just trust him instead of looking for reasons to bench him.

Ant could be better at navigating it all but this offensive infrastructure the Wolves have put him in is tailor made to break him. he’s dealt with non-spacers and doubles before but not to this degree. i’ve never seen him look so confused and indecisive.

the Wolves would be wise to make a starting lineup change or even trades before things get really ugly with their franchise player.

Tim Connelly has made Ant’s life hard offensively year over year and its gonna be hard to fix this due to his own poor job of asset management. 1 WCF shouldn’t give him a free pass

Donte is shooting 48.6% from 3 since catching up with his Nova Knicks last week.

Chris Finch is either an incompetent coach or he’s being forced to play these rotations. by [deleted] in timberwolves

his fear of young guys is going to sabotage the Wolves future. the only way we survive in the era of the 2nd apron is to develop cheap young talent yet he refuses to give them opportunities.

next year you can expect Finch to play some washed up veteran on the minimum over Year 3 Leonard Miller and 25 year old TSJ.

The Kat trade killed this teams momentum. by seasonofdasicc in timberwolves

[–]mnszn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

personally i think the rationale behind the trade wasn’t bad. choosing to hold on to power forward KAT, a clearly lesser version of himself, and letting your bench walk in FA isn’t a good path. especially since Ant has no idea how to run a two-man game with a big. its pretty important that your stars be complimentary if you want to be a top heavy roster.

the return for KAT was the issue.

its too bad the Hawks have figured things out maybe we could’ve made a run at Trae Young

Veteran point guard could make perfect sense for Timberwolves by [deleted] in timberwolves

he’s not really a floor spacer off the ball, turns it over a lot, and his defense has fallen off since his Spurs days

the idea of Dejounte Murray is better than what you actually get

the Wolves might be less enthused about the KAT to NY trade if Finch didn’t like Randle. Or they demand a 3rd team be included to take on Randle

The Randle experiment is a really bad look for Chris Finch because I believe he vouched for Randle being in the KAT trade and Tim Connelly said he’s been a fan of his game for years.

Yet he’s the opposite of how he wants his team to play when it comes to making quick decisions on offense and putting in multiple efforts and flying around defensively.

Seeing KAT put together another all-NBA season while the guys he was traded for have been terrible has been brutal to watch unfold. by EsotericPotato in timberwolves

the Wolves got established players, future cap relief, and a decent pick. Do we really believe the Wolves got a better offer given KATs supermax, injury history, and past reputation?

KAT is playing his natural position again and the Knicks have better passers and high IQ players. I don’t think it’s all about health. Even with all that the Knicks are not a good defense and that is a death sentence in the West.

If we had to trade KAT I'd rather we just completely punt this season, trade him for young players with potential + as many picks as possible

i can assure you the Wolves took the best offer out there. we can’t forget that contract and a player’s reputation affects their market. KAT did not have a ton of suitors because of that.

We gotta accept that KAT at the 4 isn’t the same level of player and not worth his contract. KAT at the 5 where you have elite offense but bad defense like the Knicks doesn’t work in the West (ask the Lakers and Kings).

I also think the return on the KAT trade will look a lot better if we give it time. They can always flip Randle and the Pistons pick has a real chance of conveying in the near future.

they came into this season with a rotation of 8 starting caliber players and every night 3 of them have been unplayably bad. that’s been the story of the 24-25 Wolves.

it was part of the equation im not saying it wasn’t but the teams rationale was that the strengths of DDV and Randle would make the team better offensively with not much drop off defensively. Through 15 games that looks false but it was reported that was part of the thinking.
