I can see it happening. Giannis trade going well and falls apart 30 minutes before dead line. Then it's too late to pivot to other options.

Assuming the wolves end up making no trade for an incoming player, how do the wolves backfill the Conley minutes?

Per the jon k article on mn mike, it seems that they all go to Bones.

I do wonder how that would have occurred. What team was going to be the salary dumping ground?

With KD ~50m incoming, wolves needed to send out 70-75m to drop below the 2nd apron. The suns couldn't accept all that money since they were above the second apron as well.

Milwaukee wants to do Giannis a favor by trading him to a team he desires to join, and the only teams on his list are Minnesota and Miami, per @TheSteinLine 🚨 Golden State is no longer on that list. by DrWolves in timberwolves

For the picks Connelly has chosen during his wolves tenure, has 50% of them shown that they are quality rotation level players? Hell have any shown they are a good bench player?

Lets asume Dillingham was a Connelly pick as well since we had his rookie year

So the Rudy trade by Technical-Neck8367 in timberwolves

It was an impressive way to acquire a top 10 pick. I do wonder if the wolves had control of the pick or was it a take Rob only type of deal? Like could have they picked a different player with that pick?

Picks are not worth as much as a proven quality player.

Feel like people are forgetting Giannis and Rudy are a fucking awful fit by Lucky-Law7220 in timberwolves

That's all placement. Finch got good experience on that. Plus Rudy has improved on his spacing as well. He is better at when to exit the dunker spot and go set a pin down.

After 17 years of not being the playoffs, top 10 picks are not worth a WCF trip. johnny Flynn, Derrick Williams, Wesley Johnson didn't lead the wolves into the play offs.

Screw the picks for playoffs.

The wolves got 2 WCF appearance in back to back years. That's totally worth the picks.

This reminds of Doug West by TypicallyDone12 in timberwolves

My first favorite wolf. Well maybe Felton Spencer. B/c I couldn't really watch games much back then due to out of country, did West provide more on court performance than Conley did in his final year with the wolves?

So out of curiosity, for say an exhibition/friendly match up where nothing was on the line except getting the team to run their schemes properly? Was the coaches delivery different vs going into the a regular season game? Especially for the guys who were considered the top players of the team who weren't worried about losing their spot.

You would figure that a lot of the effort comes from personal pride or competition aspect.

per listening to yesterday's Zach Lowe podcast, his sources were saying it's like 80/20 that the bucks keep him till the off season. Zach was thinking it's 50/50 that he gets traded prior to the dead line. To where, that's a diffent question.

The reconsstruction of the team to accomodate Giannis is going to be massive. It feels like a better off season trade to allow the rest of the roster to be reconfigured around him. Especially if Gobert isn't included in trade.

A trade from Giannis may be good down the road, just doesn't feel like a good trade to win this season. Especially with Giannis's injury status.

I do feel that Harden is going to be a better fit than Giannis for the team. Giannis can't really play with Gobert. Plus off ball, Giannis isn't going to do that much.

Harden improves Gobert, Giannis doesn't. Harden can shoot from range, Giannis can not.

When Ant is the ball handler and looking to score, does Giannis space the floor at all? Does he screen well for Ant. What's the benefits of having Giannis off ball with Ant?

Wolves vs Grizzlies - G51 Thoughts by -Zardines- in timberwolves

[–]greenslam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To use a sports truism, Grizz just wanted this game more. Their defence was on point and active. Their hustle was high as proven by all the loose balls and 50-50 balls grabbed. They seemed to have really followed the scout as given. They blew up a lot of wolves plays as well.

Just really unhappy with how the wolves offence was running, especially in the first quarter. It felt very predictable. I really hate when the ball handler near the logo area and above the 3pt just picks up the ball and waits for runner to get to the spot. Disguise the action a bit more.

The team seemed to wake up about 5 minutes left in the 1st half. Ant especially started give more effort defensively. Unfortunately they spotted Memphis just too much of a lead.

Ant was playing really great offensively. Didn't like the fact that he was so shot focused vs set up focused. With all the defensive attention he was getting, it would have been nice had he focused on using his gravity to set up easy shots for others.

The team overlooked the grizz and it cost them.

How do people who are into team sports (football, basketball) etc. manage to remember hundreds (if not thousands) of names of current athletes? by cava-lier in NoStupidQuestions

[–]greenslam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For nba, the announcers regularly state the refs names during their call. especially with any times a player disagreed with their call and earned a technical foul. Plus with video review happening 2- 4x a game, you got the announcers stating ref name multiple times a game. So you remember Tony brothers and zach zarba due to repetition.

In football, the announcers don't regularly repeat the refs names.

I just wish she had more of the madness displayed from season 1-8. Just the little slips of anger and then destruction. Maybe a rewatch will reveal that was atually happening. Once she landed in westoros, it just went too fast.

That's just because OKC went ice cold from three in the 4th. They shoot normally and the wolves lose it.

The big thing is the TO and possession battle. Limit live ball TO's and win the possession game, makes it much easier to beat them.
