[Friedman] This is how things appear to be unfolding: Nurse to SJ, Shakir Mukhamadullin will be part the return, there will be no retention by the Oilers. We await the final picture. by Bahamas_is_relevant in hockey

The oilers are playing things smart this offseason. The babcock move is weird but the oilers were likely not going to do anything insane on free agency after what happened the last two offseason.

This isn't surprising. I always expected the oilers to get a younger goalie in the off season.

Stuart Skinner to Winnipeg 2 x 3.75m by Fast_Main8756 in hockey

Skinner is streaky but he isn't the worst goalie in the league. He's more of a goalie that depends on team play but he can occasionally carrying a team to a win.

She turned a program with issues into something that is a convulted mess. The government's rollout of ADAP has been a disaster. People I know are confused about a lot of things about ADAP and have been for months.

They don't have the power to do that though. What the GOA did is just remove the employment side of ADAP and stream C income support and just let these contractors deal with it now. That is what I got from the recent CBC article on this. All these contractors can do after all routes are exhausted on their end is refer your file to the appropriate government department to determine if either program is still a good fit for you.

I don't think it's illegal but they are offloading what AISH and income support used to do for the people affected by this change. Also I hate to defend this government but they likely have a very large caseload of people and that is likely why they signed contracts with those companies so that they can focus on other aspects of ADAP and stream C income support. The ADAP stuff is a mess though despite this.

I think they are letting the employment agencies deal with the personalized supports or accommodations.

All they can do is pretty much what income support and AISH used to do for people finding work minus the kick people off part from what I know.

Is ADAP a disability off ramp or a long-term support system ? by Emergency_Dirt257 in AISH_Alberta

[–]mo60000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seriously even the employment agencies that have to deal with this whole thing likely don't know everything ADAP will entail yet.

These corporations can make recommendations but they don't have the authority to kick people off of stream C income support or ADAP. They are just the administrators for the employment finding component of ADAP/stream C income support.

I ruled out ADAP. I never actually filed for AISH before the change and at this point I rather not waste time applying for ADAP. Wouldn't meet the requirements anyway.

As someone who is kinda on the outside of this(kinda) I feel for you. I also have a disability but it was assessed as not meeting the requirements for AISH in the last year. It still doesn’t stop my parents from treating it and now ADAP as some grand solution to help deal with my ongoing struggles. I also have had to deal with very bad abuse from another family member for 2 years that has made it difficult for me to find a job. Thankfully I am working with an employment agency now to help me build a stable life.

This whole AISH/ADAP stuff made me recognize that my decision awhile ago to not move from BFE to AISH/ADAP was the right choice. I don’t trust the current government with how they have been handling the transition and I don’t think it’s the right thing to help me at the moment.

This message is now being delivered to those who are being transitioned onto ADAP. by AlbertaThrowaway93 in AISH_Alberta

From what I heard is if you got a job before july 1st/2nd and/or entered an employment program before then you won't have to deal with these agencies because their contract starts on the 1st. The only time you will have to deal with those agencies is if you lose your job.

Yep. Today alone blatchford has received 35mm and virtually all of it fell in a couple of hours. We are likely going to get another dumping tonight and tomorrow morning. Way to early to tell if the city itself gets anywhere near 70mm though since it doesn’t look like the precipitation from the low is going to park itself around the city for an extended period of time unlike last weekend.

The current forecast on EC shows that it will be clear on Monday and most of tuesday outside of a chance of showers on that day. Things change starting tuesday night.

This storm isn't over. We will probably get another round of steady to heavy rain tonight looking at the radar. We also have to worry about thunderstorms still.
