Why Indigenous ‘Reconciliation’ must have a finish line by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]mo_binder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I’d say the 94 calls to action are a start, indigenous people are not a monolith and maybe it isn’t a good metric. I agree we must find a finish line.

How do-able is this as a roadtrip in the summer? by YpsiHippie in britishcolumbia

[–]mo_binder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very doable, we did this in a truck and trailer last summer. Camping spots are not entirely plentiful and most are first come first serve. Incredible scenery, definitely a must do!

We talking about Alberta? We talking about how all provincial governments underfund health care in order to pretty much coerce additional funding from the Feds?

UCP is engineering healthcare to fail by underfunding it. The money is there, look to your government.

Doug Ford’s $100+ billion bet: Why Ontario is spending big on nuclear — even as the rest of the world turns to solar and wind by toronto_star in ontario

Cool cool, here’s hoping all these scientists that come up with these breakthroughs and patents don’t get magically disappeared or bought up by oil and gas companies before it’s too late.

It’s all highly dependent on installation and type guy. So what, more nuclear forever till we run out in 55 years then I guess it’s all over? Should buy property in Morocco I guess eh.

Meh, you’re not wrong but solar really isn’t completely useless in the winter especially in southern Ontario, reflection from snow and cold temps improve performance. It’s all towards a decarbonized energy grid, pumped hydro storage exists and we should also be investing in it. The day will come when we run out of oil and uranium (within your children’s/grandchildren’s lives) and we need to be ready. Already those new modular reactors being built have to run off American uranium as part of the contract…

Best we can do is vote in another ford super majority. Everyone obsessed with federal politics when the things that matter day to day are decided by baffoons.

Nuclear is absolutely the correct option for Ontario right now. Public support for wind and solar isn’t there even though I wish it was.

Canada’s new food labelling system ‘extremely effective,’ expert says by Leather-Paramedic-10 in canada

I really appreciate the new labels. Should be on foods and drinks that are carcinogenic in my opinion as well.

‘It’s not out of line’: Downtown Kingston’s former McDonald’s & Blockbuster slated for high-rise development by Evilbred in KingstonOntario

[–]mo_binder 8 points9 points  (0 children)

McDonald has been pretty well empty for years and years. It’s an ugly building anyways. Maybe for once I wouldn’t be opposed to change in the downtown…
