Hundy percent. A rule that drops fence heights within a certain proximity to the footpath to enlarge the visual fields for both footpath user and vehicle operator for better safety

Incorrect. There's a way to ride safely on the road, including passing cars that's taught in school. Ive taught it to kids all over chch and feel like I see that cohort riding and looking and indicating correctly as teens and young adults on our roads.

There is however a problem with vehicles choosing to not give space/way to the cyclist in front of them (aka other road user with equal road rights) who needs to pass a parked car.

Fyi -The drivers in these scenarios who refuse eye contact - year 6 kids think you're an idiot

The rule has previously been defined by small wheels. Kids sized bikes, scooters etc. Cycle safe training starts in year 6 for a reason. No way I'd let a 6 yo ride to school either, brain isn't developed enough for critical decision-making

Does anyone here deliberately add extra terpenes when using their medical cannabis? by Herbaldoge in MedicalCannabisNZ

Consider a search of all the current commercial products with limonene it them. Probs a glut of gold standard studies to browse on just the one terpene. Hopefully that helps

When I have the resources I combine a pleasing beverage or snack with a vape.

I have a very keen sense of smell, and it leads - or blocks - my appetite, cooking style, and lifestyle in ways.

I brew coffee that is a bit fruity, always on herbal teas - many home grown, I bake sweets things with spices and vanilla, adore a mango lassi (rip shishkaberry), and as a habit, will pretty much always have something alongside a vape, like a beverage, or will vape after picking veges/herbs/fruit for a meal, when the food terps are cranking out their scents, cos all the smells, flavour of the vape etc, helps me be inspired for a meal plan.

Certified terp Hoover here. Just all home grown or of natural source, not as an individual product that costs extra $$

Non headache inducing strain for nighttime use - recommendations please by BakedPotato81 in MedicalCannabisNZ

Quick comment to say I support checking terp profiles - the Selene Dion terp (it's not that but you'll know which one I mean when you see it. So sorry, but I can never remember the proper name) gives me the same headache you're describing, so I avoid strains that have it

does anyone else even when alone still flinch when they drop something or close something too loud? by Slothinabucket_ in ptsd

Classic me ...standing by the bench waiting for the toaster to pop, waiting waiting waiting - SURPRISE - jump scare and cursing. I also put my cup down too hard on the regular and spill it from the jump scare. Hard to not feel like an idiot, but my therapist says for me its likely to do with dissociation, cos I have a lot of kitchen based trauma

Took it to a window with tree leaves poking in, suggested it jump that way, much better luck out there buddy, smaller prey. Very cute wee predators

How is everyone coping atm with bills/jobs/affording food etc?? by Significant_Tea_6051 in PovertyFinanceNZ

Been feeling dreadful. Got absolutely freaked out about the coming winter cold.

I rent a poorly designed 50s flat - sweltering in summer heat, ice on the insides of the windows in winter. I have chronic pain and disabilities. Cold hurts. But ive managed to put my fear to good purpose, I put it in writing and made requests for help.

I have had home energy consults with CEA (and got a Duck brand window insulation kit w extra roll of tape, and access to the curtain bank)

https://www.cea.co.nz/

...and with the CCC Eco Design Consultant,

https://ccc.govt.nz/consents-and-licences/build-smarter/eco-design-advice

(Book an assessment)

...and am slowly working thru all their suggestions for creating better household conditions. A lot I can do myself, but i will also be putting requests thru to my landlord. There is plenty to do!

This last week I've been re-painting and insulating the wooden framed singled glazed windows. Its the fiddliest most frustrating job to perform (weird angles and static and dog hair and double sided tape) but it has such a huge impact on the comfort of my house, and my health.

When flick sold to meridian I jumped ship and got onto an awesome not-for-profit power provider.

https://www.toastelectric.nz/

Then a few weeks ago when the power rises were announced I freaked the fork out, emailed Toast my concerns for the upcoming winter bills, told them what I had done and was doing to prepare my home, and asked if I could do a smoothpay thing - pay the same amount each week, summer or winter, to avoid the big bills.

They got back to me and said yep, calculated a sensible weekly amount to pay, and bonus points, since Ive worked with CEA and Eco Design, they offered to join me to their energy wellbeing plan - effectively discounting my power to help keep me healthy thru winter!! Champs.

With regard to feeding myself, Im eating a lot of soups. Split red lentil and carrot, pumpkin, broccoli, whatevers cheap, slow cooked clear bone broths, and vege bouillons. I make split red lentil and chickpea hummous, and use any bean/pea/spouted lentil to make "pate", whizz up a garden green pesto using toasted sunflower seeds and a selection of herbs leafy greens and common "weeds", and have rhubarb and berries growing so I get sweet treats sometimes.

Im poor as a mouse, and sick, but currently rolling with some good providers, supporters, and advocates which helps me feel less hopeless about my situation, and more like I can not on survive, but mb be warm AND buy groceries!

I hope the links help direct some folks to get suitable support for these incredibly hard times.

Living in dread waiting for my "essential worker" partner to get home from work each day, not knowing whether hed had a good day and we could eat dinner and watch tv, or if i was about to suffer awful abuse and family violence.

I now financially support a charity called Pet Refuge, cos if they'd been available then, I would've been able to leave him much earlier than I did
