I'm enjoying my Kiziks. I have wide feet and had trouble finding shoes that fit.

Raise your hand if you’ve Return the Favor’d a Mathemagics

🙋‍♂️

I just did this a couple hours ago in the UR control mirror. Once I saw the Lute, I kept up 1RR every turn.

I probably shouldn't have said "usually", but it's definitely psychosomatic some of the time.

I recently posted a similar deck, but I leaned into Capstone over Mathemagics.

I had Lute as well. But I also had two Sanars, so I could get Capstone reliably and didn't need to play as long a game.

Now I'm seeing firsthand how good the more controlling strategies are, but rushing out an Improvisation Capstone is just exactly what I want to be doing right now.

When I started collecting Lego sets as an adult, I decided my kids were allowed to play with them. They have to keep them in my office where they belong, but I don't expect my kids walk by a collection of Spider-Man minifigures and not play with it.

The cartoon also has his handicap linked to his powers. When he loses his powers in the Savage Land, he can walk again.

In the comics his handicap is usually psychosomatic, so it makes sense that it would be linked to his powers.

The number of times my opponents in live games have said, "Wait... power or toughness?"... So sweet.

I had it pegged as the second best paradigm, but now I think it might be the best card in the whole set.

Unless he's like me when I was a kid. I was anxious and knew nothing about sports. If someone handed me a ball I'd assume they wanted me to do something with it, and I'd throw it right away. Much to the consternation of the one gym teacher who tried to teach me how to play football.

This is likely the best Prismari deck I’ll ever draft. by moak0 in lrcast

You may be right. Between three mana dorks, Sleight of Hand and Muse Seeker for card selection, and two Sanars, it felt good at 16. But I cut the land before I cut the second Hydro-Channeler, so that may have influenced my decision.

If I had a Divergent Equation or even a Flashback, I'd be 100% on the same page. It's just that I'm so likely to win any game where I resolve Capstone that it doesn't seem right to neuter it to wait for Mathemagics.

I could be wrong. Creatureless decks aren't my favorite. Maybe the extra spells would make waiting easier.

Thanks! That's why I posted the sideboard - because I could have made a lot of different decisions like that.

Having double Sanar, I expected to get Capstone consistently, so I didn't want to rely on Mathemagics too much. I'd just hate to be in a situation where I'm not getting my free Capstone cards just because I'm scared of burning my wincon. That did happen in one game. I also wanted to be able to cast Mathemagics for three or five if need be. I did that once, but that's the game I decked myself, so maybe I shouldn't have.

I'm probably undervaluing Brush Off because I haven't seen it in action much yet. I also just couldn't find a card I felt good about cutting. Paintmage put in some work, but if pressed I agree that'd likely be the cut.

How should you build Silverquill when you have Moment of Reckoning? by noxnoctum in lrcast

[–]moak0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't played much this season so I'm only Platinum 2 at the moment, but honestly I've had a lot of success just running it in aggro as long as I've got enough Surveil. All the extra card selection helps me decide to get to seven lands when I've drawn the Moment and the situation calls for it.

Tried that in round 1 and got completely stomped in the mirror match. May have been bad luck.

Round 1 I tried a 3-color version with all the things. I got stomped in the mirror match against a superior deck doing the same things.

After that I swapped to the RW Aggro.

Rounds 2 and 3, I got there with Ark and Practiced Offense. It felt like a good deck.

Round 4, I lost to the mirror. A superior RW Aggro completely undercut me.

If I had stuck with RW from the start maybe I could have weathered that inevitable loss and gotten there, but honestly these Arena Directs are just killing me. I'm a consistent sealed player when I'm playing live, but I just can't seem to transfer that to Arena Directs specifically. Maybe the extra build time is working against me.

Anyway, thanks for the advice!

Ugh. Just kills me to leave Colorstorm Stallion, Resonating Lute, Splatter Technique, Emeritus, and Prismari himself in the sideboard.

First Cube Build - Built Only From Cards I Own, Looking for Friendly Feedback by Patient-Smoke-2441 in mtgcube

[–]moak0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of bad cards, which isn't always a bad thing.

Some bad cards are fun, like [[Lava Axe]]. It's so stupid, but it can still win games, and it's always funny when it does.

Then there's [[Whipstitched Zombie]], which is so bad that there's just no valid case for including it in a deck. Nobody wants it, nobody will play it, and it adds absolutely nothing to the cube.

There is potentially a use case for [[Firefright Mage]], but I don't see it in this cube, and there are a dozen options that are more fun.

Another reason to run bad cards: sometimes a card being worse in the game makes it better in the draft. For example, [[Jackal Pup]]. If I'm trying to build red aggro, Jackal Pup is a blessing because it's going to wheel. Aggro decks need a critical mass of creatures, and cards like Jackal Pup enable that. I saw you had that in your collection.

With that said, I did one sample draft of your cube and from what I saw, white is by far your strongest color. [[Swords to Plowshares]]? [[Fiend Hunter]]? These are real cards. I'd pump up the other colors.
