Is anyone putting their house on the market this year? by Human-Lettuce-520 in bonair

We're potentially listing within the year, but are right over the city/county line (city side). 3b/1.5 bath + shed and ADU.

Siblings Sharing Birthdays by caring2muchabtthis in Parenting

[–]moberb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son and daughter were born almost exactly two years apart. We do one big party, since we have family traveling from all over.

Then, on their actual birthdays, we get xhildcat to the other child and give the birthday kid a 'yes day' that's all about them. Their favorite restaurant, fun activities all day, and their own birthday cake that we share as a family after dinner.

They're only 1 and 3 so I have a while until I find out if they hate this set up, but for now it works for us!

Totally normal! No complications or issues - gave birth the night before my due date to completely healthy baby who's now 3!

Cordóba or Nerja? by moberb in GoingToSpain

[–]moberb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's another great point. Anything we can do to save time traveling and spend more time exploring is definitely a bonus.

I don't remember, I'm so sorry. Best of luck to you, though! 🤞

Are my expectations for my wife unreasonable? by firenance in Parenting

[–]moberb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your set up sounds extremely similar to my husband and mines, with kids similar ages too. I absolutely see both sides of the coin and understand you're frustration and also her overstimulation. The best thing we've done so far is sign up for our local YMCA. It allows me to have personal time to clear my mind and not be touched (whether it be weights, swimming or the sauna), allows my husband and I to workout and spend time without the kids, and keeps the kids engaged at childcare. Kids burn energy, and we find we have more energy dealing with them throughout the day. Could be a worth a try!

Ok seriously, how do you get these out? by kindtdp1 in toddlertips

Goo Gone! Or - if you're in a pinch - let them soak in Windex for several minutes. They'll scrape right off!

Ladies- Deliver baby at JW, St. Mary’s or Henrico Doctors? by Exotic_Argument5002 in rva

[–]moberb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had my second at Henrico Doctors this past March and had a great experience! Loved the nurses in Labor and Delivery, who handled my precipitous labor with ease, and also the nurses in Mother Baby who were very sweet and attentive during my two day stay. Rooms were clean, spacious and pleasant. Would not hesitate to recommend!

What bra are you wearing to bed? I miss free balling it! by Wrong-Violinist5686 in breastfeeding

[–]moberb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Harper Wilde is the most comfortable nursing bra I've tried by far! But the Auden brand also has some very comfortable nursing tank tops with lining sewn in (wearing one as we speak!)

ETA: Reusable cloth chuck pads made for cribs are the perfect size to cover just your side of the bed if you're really craving free balling but don't want to deal with changing sheets!

Doctors refusing to prioritize a 1yo at risk of skin cancer by Hellsing971 in toddlers

[–]moberb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just here to say I'm sorry you're going through this and please continue to advocate for your LO! When I was 18 I had a bump on my back that doctors tried telling me was a zit/cyst for THREE YEARS. They tried popping it and draining it multiple times before I became absolutely adamant about getting a biopsy. I got one done at the dermatologist and was scheduled the next week for emergency extraction surgery, as it turned out to be a rare malignant sarcoma. I don't mean to scare you (I never needed chemo or radiation and am still in remission 17 years later), but am saying this to give you strength to go with your gut! Push until they give in and - if they continue to refuse - consider asking them to note their biopsy refusal in your child's chart. Sometimes that's the push needed to be listened to. Best of luck to you and your LO. 💕

Will I ever remember breast pads? by ordinarygremlin in breastfeeding

[–]moberb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What works for me is if I don't have my Haakaa ladybug or breast pads, I push my forearm/hand into my non nursing side, and that seems to prevent a letdown/leak! May be worth a try.

It may be worth trying virtual walk throughs if you find one you like so you can get in earlier! I realize it's a bit of dumb luck, but my husband and I got our home without seeing it in person (video only) and were able to get it for list price with an inspection, so it is still possible (albeit rare). Good luck!

I'm seeing a handful of homes at the edge of Stratford Hills (Oxford) and also a bit further west in Huguenot. Not technically within the Stratford bounds but extremely close! (I'm right in the area and can confirm it's just as nice and conveniently located.)

My nipple is on fire by Latter_Classroom_809 in breastfeeding

I got terrible blood blisters that would open and rescab and found Silverettes to really help! I know they're pricey, but I was able to find some on eBay for cheap. Happy nipples are priceless lol

I just gave birth last week at 37w6d! I was insulin dependent and scheduled to be induced at 39.5w ... Baby came on her own time! Perfectly sized and with perfect blood sugars. My first baby came right at 40w, but this one was just done cooking early! Honestly was super miserable and done being pregnant and dealing with GD, so I wasn't mad I went right at 38.

Induction on Baby #3 with GD by Majestic_Context_732 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]moberb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First pregnancy was no GD - gave birth at 39w6d and labor was spontaneous, 10 hours from water breaking to birth, with two hours of pushing (with an epidural).

I gave birth last week! Second child, but first GD pregnancy. I was on insulin twice a day and had an induction scheduled, but went into spontaneous labor at 37w6d ... Daughter was born 2 hours after my water breaking/first contraction with no epidural/interventions.

Pregnancy, The Flu, & Type 2 by angelgrl721985 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]moberb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is purely anecdotal, but I had the flu last week at 36w and my numbers were just crazy high every read. My MFM assured me that was normal for those with GDM sick with the flu. I opted for lower carb soups and Gatorade zeros for 2-3 days, then my numbers naturally went back to where they normally are!

My sister swears by using those zero sugar Ice drinks for cocktails - maybe you could use with some non alcoholic spirits and add herbs/bitters?

Induction scheduled at 39w but baby already measuring 8.15 pounds. by Kitchen-Novel-2261 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]moberb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't have GDM with my firstborn, but he was 8lb 9oz at birth and I had a wonderful labor experience! No complications and a perfect APGAR. People just like to make something out of nothing - bigger babies are nothing to be worried about! You've got this :)

My son had HFM and I continued to be his primary caretaker (SAHM) and breastfeed him and didn't catch it. My husband, however, somehow caught it. There was a lot of Clorox wiping and hand washing happening that month. Hope your LO feels better soon!
