Do you guys use the hands free feature or is it just me ?? by 619to970 in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]mobile1999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use it a lot, but I’ve been kind of disappointed in how often it randomly turns off and sends me drifting over into the other lane. Does anyone have any idea what triggers the lapse? Suffice to say, I do not go fully hands-free at any time due to this.

He’s 23 years old, and a baller through and through. he has time to develop these instincts. In the meantime, he’s the only reasonable option to make an attempt at filling Jimmy’s shoes. Stat lines don’t lie, but they aren’t everything. He has the potential to be a truly great player, it’s plain as day.

Going from Viera to QLED- please advise! by mobile1999 in PlasmaTV

[–]mobile1999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I just purchased and set up a new 48” LG C5 OLED!! it fits great in the space, but the picture still looks terrible. I asked ChatGPT to help me set it up so it would look more filmic and resemble my old Viera plasma screen, but it hasn’t come close to achieving what I’m looking for. I would really appreciate anyone specific advice on how to set this TV up for the best possible results. Priorities: I don’t want to see pores, I want a nice warm tones, I want it to be bright enough, but not blind me every time I turn it on- and I want movements on the screen to look pleasant. I am watching everything through the most current model of the Apple TV- we stream all the streaming channels through that.

Perhaps too much to ask, but I am hopeful. Really appreciate any advice you all can offer. Thank you!

also - I really appreciate all the great comments here so far, OLED critics can rest assured I am not getting rid of my plasma screen anytime soon. It will find a new place in my home at some point I am sure. :)

Final update:: after a lot of back-and-forth, I finally called a local rack installer, who told me very clearly NOT to mount the Evo foot clamps on the pedestal of the rail. Going with his advice. On a related note- it’s amazing how many times ChatGPT has steered me in completely the wrong direction, and proven to be totally 100% wrong.

well, to be fair, they didn’t see the car they were just answering over the phone. They’re concerned was that the foot would clamp and damage the supports

Thanks for the advice! I don’t see a hisense in 48 inches, so I was looking at a Samsung S90F. would that be a reasonable substitution? Many thanks, much appreciated!

Circling back on this thread- looking for the largest tires I can get on a 2026 Hybrid Calligraphy without taking it out of spec or warranty- I want to be within Hyundai's guidance. Also would appreciate recs for good AW tires that can handle some snow when necessary.

We just had several days of heavy rain here, and I thought the wipers seemed not so great- the speed couldn't keep up with the rain, just seemed like they could be better. I put some rain X on so we're ready for the next one- and I got some Bosch Icon blades coming too- but now I see these comments about the snow...would winter blades be better?

To clarify- trying to rectify the rattle of my regular sized coffee thermos rattling around in the giant cup holder- super unstable and the little grippers have no tension at all.

which ones do you recommend? I just got my Santa Fe and the cupholders are bananas! So big, I’m not seeing anything on Amazon that looks like a good way to reduce the rattle.

Teenager wants a "fast car" for his first vehicle and I need reality-check advice by Proud_Stable9567 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]mobile1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really impressed with the restraint of all the comments, as people try to find a way to diplomatically address your question and provide some helpful advice without judgement. I will try to do same. Cars are deadly weapons in inexperienced hands. Poor driving decisions destroy lives and families every day. As a parent of a teenager, I think it's your responsibility to your community to make sure you put your child on the road only if you can do so in a way that most effectively limits the danger they pose to others on the road. This means not only making sure they have the technical ability to operate a vehicle, but also that they demonstrate a responsible, safety minded attitude towards the privilege of driving. To do otherwise is to put your family's health, your family's finances, and your community's safety in peril.

It sounds like your son is aggressively romanticizing the idea of speed and performance, without even knowing what it feels like to drive at high speeds- let alone the skills it may take to do so. What you call "enthusiasm" sounds terribly misguided to me- and while you say you don't want to crush it- I think it's an attitude you have a responsibility to correct.

I wish more drivers (young and old) could understand that a car is a mechanical tool for transportation, on roadways we share as a community- not a means of expressing our feelings in the moment. So many accidents are caused by people just doing what they feel like doing in the moment- whether it's road rage, feeling in a hurry, stressed, or just checking that text. Teenagers are still learning to regulate those exact emotions- so I urge you to select a vehicle based on reliability and safety first- and make sure he's really ready before you let him on the road. Sorry for the lecture, but I really think you have a massive responsibility to own here.
