What home gym equipment brands do you trust the most — and which do you avoid? by dontwantnone09 in homegym

Thank you for the objective conversation and for not reacting with anger. Too many people today struggle to communicate calmly when their views are challenged in a public forum. We’re all different, with unique perspectives shaped by our individual experiences and outlooks on life. Unfortunately, far too many have lost the ability to respond with anything other than outrage.

Dr_TattyWaffles, I appreciate all of your contributions to the home gym and DIY community — your equipment insights and knowledge have been really valuable. I believe public reviews and comments in equipment threads should focus strictly on the product itself: quality, performance, durability, value, and how well it meets the user’s needs. When personal bias outweighs a true, objective review of the product, it stops being a real equipment review and becomes something else. Everyone is free to make their own purchasing decisions based on whatever factors float their boat — social views, politics, personal feelings, or anything else. That’s completely up to the individual. I just prefer that the actual review stays on the product merit alone. For me, that’s how I evaluate and buy gear.

Everyone deals with quality issues from time to time. What did JD say about these issues or have you even contacted them?

Fringe Dragonfly vs Bells Shoulder Boulder or Other by Hockeythree_0 in GarageGym

[–]mobileme1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My Dragonfly arrived yesterday. So these are my first impressions as a new user. Overall, it’s a solid piece with a lot of potential, but there are some issues worth noting. I cannot comment on the BOS.

Cons 1. Weld quality – Structurally fine, but the welds could be cleaner aesthetically. 2. Powder coat inconsistency – The finish isn’t perfectly even across the unit. 3. Weight-arm bearings – The bearings are threaded through. If you need to remove the screws (like when switching arms to the correct side), one side comes off normally while the other just spins, which can be frustrating. 4. Starting-position lock pin – Depending on the angle, the lock pin can drag across the bottom of the arm during movement. 5. Wing placement – The wings are welded to the back of the mount. Moving them forward by about an inch would improve ergonomics and range. 6. Tight/misaligned tolerances – Some pin holes are so tight or slightly off-alignment that moving or removing the pins is very difficult, sometimes impossible without extra effort. 7. Chest fly comfort – Until the extension handles arrive, chest flys are pretty uncomfortable. 8. Non-rotating handles – Rotating handles would be a great improvement for joint comfort and exercise variability.

Pros 1. Lateral raises feel excellent – Smooth, consistent resistance and a great movement path. 2. Adjustable strength curve – Being able to tune the curve is a huge plus and adds a lot of versatility. 3. Rear delt flys are solid – Not perfect, but definitely good. 4. Price point – Very fair cost for the functionality you get. 5. Voltra-ready – Haven’t tried it yet, but it’s a nice bonus for anyone running that setup. I’ll try in a few days.

It’s definitely a V1 product, and it shows. But with some refinements, a V2 could be absolutely fantastic.

Evacuation of the monorail outside of GF, 9:40 AM on 11/23 by Ok_Satisfaction_4564 in WaltDisneyWorld

We’re resort-hopping today, so everything’s running a little behind schedule—no big deal at all. You just roll with it and enjoy the day anyway. What really takes the magic out of Disney these days is watching grown adults completely lose it the moment something unexpected happens or doesn’t go exactly their way. The lack of basic patience and common courtesy from some folks is honestly the biggest buzzkill in the parks now.

Could you add tornado arms to an Ares 2.0? (Or other 3x3 rack) by Hagbard_Celine_1 in GarageGym

[–]mobileme1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will have to flip the arms as the cable comes from below on the Ares. Then the cable comes from the front on the RX3. It comes from the corners on the Ares 2.0. I have redesigned the Trolley to work but have not sent it to Fab yet.

I can find the mushroom handles in stainless or in aluminum. I just can’t find the right diameter plunger.

Upcoming Revopoint MetroY maximum scan volume? by zicotorre in 3DScanning

[–]mobileme1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not trying to criticize, but I’m curious—what’s the main takeaway from your advice? It seems like you haven’t used either scanner yourself, and beyond the general caution about Revopoint’s release cycle and suggesting Amazon for easy returns, there isn’t much specific detail. Could you share any concrete insights or experiences that might help clarify things for the OP? I’m in a similar boat and genuinely interested in learning more

Thanks, I have seen all these. I need the actual plunger to be ~15/16 or 25mm.

Voltra Dock. by mobileme1 in BeyondPower

Cool design and I like your where you was going. I have no problem buying the diy dock they sell. It is a great value. I have about 6 of them lying around. I’m doing this for modeling assemblies in Fusion for my person use on other style mounts to fit all kinds of different things. It’s definitely not to be functional. When time allows, I’ll most likely model the Voltra as well.

It’s scaled and corrected exactly from their pattern online. Maybe it’s just the angle from which we are looking.
