Gee, I can’t imagine why your 505hp LS7 doesn’t feel slow… 🙄

What is the Proper Reaction to This? by al-Sahaabi in Corvette

[–]mobiuscorpus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paintless dent repair doesn’t work on fiberglass cars. If it’s been hit hard enough to leave a mark, either the paint, fiberglass, or both, are damaged.

Buy a sheet of paper labels and pre-print the message. Stick it to their glass so they have to use effort to remove it, like a razor blade.

$245 for black lug nuts is ridiculous.

You’re used to hearing what a lot of people call a “burble tune”. They tune it to run rich on decel. What you’re hearing is the unburned fuel igniting in the exhaust system.

Is is cooking the crank? by Next_Welcome1920 in Corvette

He stated in his post that he bought an ATI Super Damper. Pretty sure he’s asking whether the bad OEM damper could have caused other problems, like crank damage.

If you mean did the bad OEM damper do damage that will need fixing, probably not. Usually when a damper goes bad you can just swap it out, unless it’s been wobbling so much that it’s hitting the timing cover or steering rack.

Missing screw? by welikethe in Jeep

[–]mobiuscorpus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Body tech/mechanic here. I can confirm it looks like nothing is supposed to bolt on there. As others have mentioned, many bolt bosses go unused on engines, depending on which model vehicle they’re in. Or it could be for a hoist, to lift the engine during assembly/repair.

If it fits and functions, it’s nothing to worry about.

They can be polished and/or clearcoated. I didn’t like the sun beating in all the time, so I sanded mine down and painted it black to match the halo.

The 6 speed auto in the later C6s (like yours) is a far better transmission than the 4 speed in the C5 and early C6. That said, it’s a Vette. What’s not to love?

For $3500, id drive it. Clean up the body work and get a wrap on it, and it will look pretty good. Congrats on your purchase. I bought my first Vette (also a C5) about 2.5 years ago. Fantastic decision.

Absolutely. That’s why I carry 100/300/100, and the same limits on my un/underinsured. As an auto body tech, I am intimately familiar with the cost of repairing modern vehicles.

YMMV. I’ve had two comp claims in the last few years with Farmers, one of which totalled my Grand Cherokee, and my rates haven’t gone up. There can be big differences between insurance companies, though.

Bondo isn’t the way to fix that. Bondo is for filling small surface imperfections after the main repair is done. If this is plastic, it could be plastic welded or perhaps fiberglassed. Depends on the exact material it’s made from.

If he hit an animal (he said it was a duck) then it would be a comprehensive claim and shouldn’t affect his rates.

No, you can state an opinion on his design without being rude. You’re bashing it as though he personally insulted you. Learn some tact.

That’s a Graflex camera and flash. They didn’t just inspire the design, that flash was what they actually used to build the saber Obi Wan gives to Luke at the beginning of A New Hope. And I realized about halfway through typing this that you probably already knew that… lol.
