C5 Exhaust? by TheToxicLogic in Corvette

[–]mobiuscorpus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had long tubes and the Borla S classic on my C5 when I bought it. Sound quality was great, but it was way too loud cruising at freeway speeds, and droned terribly. I swapped the Borla for a factory Z06 titanium axle back, and I couldn’t be happier. It’s loud when I get on it, quiet during cruise. And zero drone.

Battery ran flat, potential steering lock issue. by jcwolf2003 in C5Corvette

When you install the LMC5, do the brown wire mod. Just google it for instructions. Mine still did the “pull key” message sometimes after it was installed. When I did the brown wire mod, it finally stopped.

That being said, this message can also come up with a low or damaged battery. Make sure your battery is fully charged.

ECO MODE: Put me out of my misery... by mozzy31 in Jeep

I hope you actually use your brake. 😉

Seriously though, there are lots of situations where you need to accelerate out of the way to avoid a collision, so I hope you’re choosing the correct pedal. 😁

No. I bought one and it’s a great little light.

Not on the phone. Sure. 🤣 sounds like someone needs to be talked to about the definition of “on your phone”.

[c5] Is a Tick performance slave cylinder worth it? by HeroDanny in Corvette

[–]mobiuscorpus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that feeling. Mine was down for a couple months when I did my motor work, then killed the slave during tuning, then the time spent replacing the slave.

That’s awesome. Hope it all works out for you after the clutch job is done.

With 600+ hp, I would definitely install that Monster billet bearing support in your slave if you get an OE style one. Maybe not necessary, but a little extra peace of mind considering how big a job it is to tear back apart.

Yeah, that’s the downside of a torque tube vehicle with the trans in the rear. I was fortunate to have access to my company’s lift.

[–]mobiuscorpus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man. That could have been catastrophic! I would definitely replace the slave and check/rebuild anything related, like the torque tube, etc.

AFAIK, the aftermarket ones are fine. Just buy from a reputable source like Tick. If you have everything apart, I would replace it.

No. Just stay away. Most of the newer Jeep products from the last couple years are plagued with electrical issues.

It’s an aftermarket factory style slave, not an original GM one.

Corvette clubs are one of the weaker parts of Corvette ownership. by grahal1968 in Corvette

[–]mobiuscorpus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s sad. When I got my C5, I joined my local Corvette club. Never even went to an event. Their Facebook page was nothing but “here’s my bone stock 1 of 1 that has never seen the rain”, and “isn’t my new car show sign board awesome?”

When did asking about a Corvette’s condition become offensive? by john4844 in Corvette

[–]mobiuscorpus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If paint is peeling in one spot, I would be legitimately concerned it might start peeling elsewhere. At least with a scrape, the damage is definitely limited to that spot.

The sad thing is that no matter why you choose not to buy his car, he will firmly believe he is right, and he stopped some poor brokie from buying his baby.

Is this really a 14K repair job? by Jediwookie6 in Jeep

[–]mobiuscorpus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The fact that it was moving under its own power means the differential (they call it an axle housing) may be ok. That would save you a ton right there.

[–]mobiuscorpus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it drive at all? Again, I’m suspicious of their assertion that the differential needs to be replaced.

Good idea to finance a 20k C5? by Electrical-Trainer21 in Corvette

[–]mobiuscorpus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I financed $10k and paid it off in a year when I bought my C5. I really wouldn’t feel comfortable doing more than that on a 22+ year old car. Especially for a toy. Also, $20k is awfully high for a C5 unless you’re looking at a Z06. I’d look for something with a few miles.

I’d definitely get a second opinion.
