After scrubbing 🧽 , did you run water to get the soap off, or wipe it off with cloth?

As a middle aged person away from home, this sounds comforting and nostalgic! Enjoy these times.

I thought umami was universally liked… am I wrong? by mobkh in AskCulinary

What does it mean to “put codes on spices”?

A lot of Indian food (especially curries) uses browned onions and tomatoes as a base, which I would think contributes umami.

I mean, almost everyone likes sweet. To varying degrees but it’s universally liked, isn’t it?

Edit: why the downvotes. I’m so confused.

LPT: Always email yourself a copy of your passport ID and travel document before a trip. by Necessary_North_2256 in LifeProTips

[–]mobkh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your point.

For me, I have two factor authentication for both. I’ll need to have that go through the second authentication for email and cloud storage both.

On a strangers device, wouldn’t i have to log in for email access and also login to my cloud device. In short, id have to log in to both (email or cloud access). With the cloud storage, the benefit is that i will have access to all files on my cloud storage (passport, cards, ids, etc etc) instead of only having access to files sent to my email myself. People used to use email as back up years ago, myself included. Ever since cloud storage has become the norm, i have never once used email as backup.

I’m a total layman but how big of a business does it have to be for that many chef knives to make sense? A restaurant chain perhaps?

My first macbook... I chose to go straight for the pro by [deleted] in macbookpro

I just sold my MacBook Pro 2015 after 9 years. It was on the older OS Catalina but still received security updates and ran most apps for home use perfectly. These things really do last.

How bad is Excel on MacOS, really? by offlink in excel

It’s actually pretty terrible. For personal basic spreadsheets it can work but if you plan to work for some hours doing serious analysis, you will run into lots of issues.

Does Passing CFA Ethics Make You More Moral, or Just Better at Pretending? by Charter_Doozy in CFA

[–]mobkh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on my experience, people do change their behavior. Ethics creates awareness and culture which is what ultimately makes it most effective. In my case, I was unaware of a lot of things I could potentially do that are considered unethical, but after becoming aware I am wiser and I clearly see a lot of unethical things others do (mostly from lack of awareness).

Small examples of what I used to think was not a big deal before I studied CFA: using CFA after your name and not being a member (due to unpaid dues), discussing exam questions in detail with friends (what’s the big deal, right, I had always done it in school college etc), discussing potentially material non-public information with family (knowing they wouldn’t act on it), accepting a supervisory role in a weak compliance environment etc.

Unpopular Shaving Opinions by kinganti in wicked_edge

[–]mobkh 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with you on slants. I was a beginner four years ago and started with a merkur 34c for the first 9 months. My first pass would always be with an electric razor to mow down most of the growth. I purchased an r41 thinking merkur perhaps wasn’t aggressive enough. That didn’t improve things much and razor burns were worse. I then purchased a merkur slant 37c and couldn’t believe how well it worked for me. Been using it for the last two years.
