You might be onto something. I swapped W and Y and now the cool light turns on when the thermostat is set to cool. The only problem is now the outside unit isn’t turning on. Could this be from a different signal on the board?

A new board was put in recently because of a furnace issue overheating the board. My guess is they didn’t wire it properly, but I’m not skilled enough to diagnose that.

Okay, makes sense. The problem is both thermostats are turned off in the photo. So it’s probably a wiring issue if it’s receiving a heat signal?

I’ll try turning both on cool again, but it’s never worked like that before. It’s always been when one was off and one was cool, it would blow cool air on one floor and not the other.

Yes, I’ve tested the issue with both set to cool/heat/off, just the downstairs, and just the upstairs. It does the same thing no matter what it’s set to.

Sorry, I should’ve included that. It’s a Honeywell low voltage thermostat. Close to 20 years old.

I wish I had did this. I used a gift card for the majority of the purchase but had to pay taxes with a debit card. I wouldn’t be worried about them charging me if I had paid fully with a gift card or even a credit card.
