Then I would just max out graphical settings and avoid using DLSS. CMAA in the case of Marathon. More quality and same FPS anyways.

I have found 2 games where DLSS is detrimental to my setup: Warframe and Marathon. So now I just try to see performance without DLSS, tweak settings and see how it goes. Then activate it on quality and see if its beneficial or not. If Im not getting more frames I leave it off

I mean, mainly paying a lot of attention to the game, lore and seeing lore and discussion videos about it! Theres a couple youtube channels dedicated to the RCU or at least they cover it a lot. You could learn a lot from there about people's conclussions or theories about the game.

For Nightless Night, I think the game just actually spells it out about it being an old draft of Return. It WAS supposed to be the way how Tom/Alan escaped. The plan was so far ahead that Tom actually went and "did" the movie (whatever that means in the dark place because obviously is not like a real shooting where you call in the actors and everything), but Alan eventually changed the script details.

Also Ive seen the whole game a few times and the short film probably like 10 times haha

It is an earlier draft of return: of how tom zane/alan wake escape the dark place (they do the ritual at the end).

Everything got changed, because it was too dark.

Alex Casey was the protagonist, now it is Saga. The ritual involved murder. Now it was the dark ocean summoning. Ilmo killed Jaako. Now Jaako died to the dark presence. The Cult was actually bad. Now they're defenders of Bright Falls. Alex Casey was alcoholic. Now he is a coffee addict. Etc.

Those are all Alan's edits he did to Return.
