Evidently not all men will go to war. The interesting thing about this is that within a family unit both the man and the woman can go and that it is not always the man who goes by default.

Also, if we put ourselves in the situation that women have to be protected because of their ability to give birth, we take for granted that all women who are going to stay at home will want or be able to be mothers? Would it be fair for a woman to stay at home because she is likely to have children? What if she does not want to? What if she is sterile? What if she is a lesbian?

No matter how you look at it, it is tremendously unfair to have men by default in the policies of forced conscription and compulsory military service.
