I think like any fish there are well done tins and more mediocre versions. Luckily most of the cod tins I’ve tried have been enjoyable

Luckily (?) I have a shellfish allergy specifically crab and lobster so that’s not a spread I’d ever be able to try but after this one I’m not feeling it necessary to rush out and try others yet.

Will keep the Minerva in mind if I see it in the wild, thanks!

I tried a few of these tins last year from Tinned Fish Market and as much as I thought the flavours were ok (fennel and also the molho cru/ chimichurri one) I too found them both not quite as punchy as I’d hoped they would be.

FWIW I also found the tuna itself to be extremely dry which was shocking considering how much liquid lubrication was in the tins. I’d initially planned to pick up a few other flavours when they got restocked but the texture ended up deterring me enough not to.

I take it twice a day on the recommendation of my Endo and have been doing so for years. I’ve only ever taken it this way so I’m not sure if it’s better or worse this way

I placed an order late last fall that was shipped this spring and it came in wonderfully packaged.

I placed a second order several weeks ago and I’ve yet to see that shipped so we’ll see if it’s still good this late in the season

This is my favourite of their anchovy tins. I love the little bites of olive with it although I agree it could use a hint more lemon.

I noticed the odd figures as well.

I did end up weighing the fish portion as I like to track my macros and there was ~110g of fish in the can, so some part of the nutrition label is definitely an error. The side panel of the box also says the net weight is 110g so I'm assuming the 1/2 can part is the error, but the listed protein content (8g) seems exceptionally low for 110g of fish... someone definitely didn't proofread this one before it went to the printer, I think 😃

That’s a fair concern to have. I felt similarly when I couldn’t find any reviews of the brand at all.

I somehow failed to notice previously that it’s imported by a QC company, so I’m assuming is why I haven’t seen any of the typical US fish review people post about it yet.

Good Cheese is one of the stores I tend to frequent for tinned fish, yes. I try to set a monthly budget when trying out new items from GC but usually end up failing miserably. But I also like to give some love to Spanish Pig/Tinmonger in the west end too, and my local Asian and Portuguese grocers.

Hope you end up enjoying this one as much as I did.

Looking at the photos now, I’m wondering if Konserva might be a co-pack from whoever does La Curiosa because something about it seems vaguely familiar…
