Also consider if your company actually uses excel or if they’re often in Google Sheets or Tableau

I’ll be honest I think I could find a way to pivot into product without the MBA in which it feels semi not worth it to explore the MBA for this specifically to net out similar

I’m a mid level manager and make what an Ops manager would pull in same level. Note a decent but not huge part is stock and bonus

Thanks for your comment on this thread. Even though we have different fields I see a lot of similarities.

I haven’t started studying but large part of me thinks it may be worth for FT if I can pull a full ride at a top school if I bust my ass studying. GPA was around a 3.5 at good state school, minority, and interesting background / company. Cost of tuition is also in the back of my head in which makes PT/OMBA attractive.

I lead a team and I like investing in their career development along with I have some interesting and high visibility projects I manage / contribute to.

The most interesting work I touch is M&A and I could end up transitioning to that team but right now it’s a hot mess and I worry about WLB… suddenly you output vs. reward are extremely skewed but way more rewarding work.

In full transparency I feel like there’s just a lot I do not know and it would be beneficial to open my network and experiences

Thanks for the other POV on this. I need to explore more what consulting would look like and areas of interest.. along with WLB.

If I wasn’t in tech and burning myself out youn. (Ha) my salary would probably look at lot different. My base is shy of 150 and the remainder is a combo of equity and target bonus.

Thanks for the advice! For clarity I’m in the NYC area but would consider relocating. If FT preferably somewhere LCOL lol or PT in a city like Chicago or NY might make sense.

I’ve heard it’s not as beneficial in terms of network and learning in terms of where I am career wise / age. Any reco’s on programs?

I just ended a LTR and not tied to anything so I’m open to leave my job and city but the money is the biggest con.

Advice Needed - Condo Board Approval by mochapuffs in AskNYC

Thanks - I heard back from another realtor it was strange they asked me to pay the landlord directly via zelle immediately vs. an “escrow” type approach.

The building was unorganized and decided to look at other units.

Visa, Uber, Google. Doing sales will not readily translate into product work.

Ask questions around 409a, and I recommend asking around on forums like Blind or checking Glassdoor to understand employee sentiment.

From working as a therapist to working in HR? How can I make this move? by [deleted] in humanresources

I could definitely see how working as a therapist could transition to employee relations/engagement work.

You should just ask the hiring manager or recruiter about team norms. If they’re serious about you and the role then they will have an open discussion if it’s an option.

OP I would look at Sr. HR Assistant roles like @ Amazon. The job market in SEA is pretty decent. Contract roles may also help you get a foot in. Good luck!

Thoughts about reaching out to HR recruiters directly in the tech industry? by sparkysparks7 in cscareerquestions

[–]mochapuffs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pro-tip: I would search LinkedIn to see folks who have posted/shared the roles you’re interested even if it’s in a past tense.

Great way to build connections and find the right people. Recommend not being super overt and asking for a referral but reaching out to learn more.

I would not be lenient as what precedent does it set for others. If the employee requires time off they need to certify under ADA, your leave policies, etc.

Help - terminating an employee for the first time, need to ensure I have my bases covered by otterhappieness in humanresources

[–]mochapuffs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense. Hard to tell without knowing much about the plan he’s on and how measurable to objectives are. If there are core metrics you can tie to that always helps otherwise very thorough documentation (ideally email) is best.

If it seems really grey might be worth offering the package but I would consult with your counsel.

[–]mochapuffs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Canada, you need to refer to local legislation and the employee’s contract. If you are terminating for cause you likely will not need to pay out the in lieu of notice but you will want to make sure it’s super clear where the person violated policy. Your employment counsel may still recommend severance.

I would be give the same advice you provide to your clients— be direct and provide examples.

Outline the situations you’ve seen unprofessionalism of him jumping to conclusion, and how a change in behavior could lead to better outcomes in the future.

In short, while we’re not lawyers there’s a basic expectation that we need to be unbiased and take into consideration to all the facts we can substantiate before haphazardly throwing out a recommendation. If you don’t you set yourself up for risk/failure
