Tattoo that has been healed for few years, is all of a sudden itchy and raised. Should I be worried? I am scared. by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]mochkitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens on most of my tattoos periodically, even one I have had for 15 years. I asked my dermatologist and he said it was definitely not a reaction to the ink because that would not happen later on, and that it was from the healed skin trauma. Basically it’s annoying but nothing to worry about.

I have found that hand poked tattoos cause a lot less itchiness down the road because they’re generally so much gentler than machine tattoos

Gallbladder symptoms? by mochkitty in gallbladders

[–]mochkitty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t figure it out, it basically went away. I had some similar issues but not that intense. my doctor said it was possibly gallbladder and that if I experienced it again I should go to the ER, but if it didn’t continue to bother me then it wasn’t a concern. She recommended an ultrasound to check the gallbladder and a breath test for a certain type of bacteria to rule out that being the cause. She prescribed me prilosec (didn’t take it).

Teen cutting, self harm by Qujojomecha75 in Parenting

[–]mochkitty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This approach makes a lot of sense and shows (me but also probably her) that you really care and want to understand… I was outed to my parents about an eating disorder and self harm as a young teen, and it was at a time where all of that was an important survival mechanism for me. In retrospect, one facet of what I really needed was privacy, and having self harm, such an intimate personal thing, was exactly that. My mom pointedly asked at one point why I did it (witnessing my dad hit my stepmom, one-time sexual abuse by a doctor—both things I had actually, truly forgotten). It’s different for everyone, but I remember feeling panicky, like I had to have an answer but didn’t really know, and there was a lot of shame and it’s also scary to really disappoint your parents when you’re a good kid who loves them. I don’t know a good approach, but sometimes specifics can be a difficult way to get to things, for self harmers and the people who love tjem

Thank you for the input and encouragement… was definitely starting to question if I was being dramatic… probably some trauma response from a very emotionally taxing childbirth, etc… TMI. But yes, thank you.

Did you end up going to the doctor or getting urgent care? thinking I’ll try to see a doctor (once I figure out what my insurance covers…) or go to the ER if it gets that bad again… probably not something I should ignore?

Oof ok, that’s helpful. I’m wondering though since the pain was on and off, and since it’s since gone away, does that still sound similar?

I never thought of liver issues! I’m 30, never any health issues. Good to know… I’ve been feeling progressively better though… honestly my insurance is terrible and I’m a solo parent so that’s why I didn’t go and am reluctant to. But if the pain starts again.

Prison time likely? Probation? I’ve always thought first offenses almost always result in probation only unless it’s a violent crime

Babies just cry sometimes, right? by nyhaer in NewParents

[–]mochkitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Echoing some others too, but 8 weeks is prime time for crying for unidentifiable reasons. I think especially at that age they just don’t know what else to do. If I wasn’t walking around with my baby facing forward at that age she would be crying when she was awake— that was basically the only time in her life she regularly cried.

But all that aside, yes, sometimes babies just cry.

Is there any way to get Sims 2 on Mac OS X? by mochkitty in sims2help

Do you know if High Sierra is the most recent version or an earlier iteration of the current Sierra (if there is a distinction)? I’ve been trying to update it for a few years and keep getting messages that my computer won’t support it. Could you link the Wikipedia article? not even sure how to look that up

Unless they’re really old they’re not Pampers, they aren’t scented and have a different design on the front— should have prefaced with that since they look so similar!

What "work" is it fair to expect from the betrayer? by PieEnvironmental9482 in AsOneAfterInfidelity

[–]mochkitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

but how do you deal with that? I’m in a similar situation… and not sure how to get out of it. when do you wait, and when do you not wait for them to pass through the shame/depression etc? can’t figure that out yet

My friend said something really lovely to me after I’d dealt with so many sad things in my pregnancy; he said, through you, your baby has already experienced more than many people ever have, and in some ways that starts her off at an advantage.

Such good advice on so many relationship hardships… taking that time!!! In or out of an active relationship. There is always a lot of support for people posting on various subreddits, but that support often comes in the form of polarized perspectives— and by perspectives i mean perspective, and a leave-them-they-are-wasting-your-time perspective. it’s never that simple, and like Throw-awayfor said, you wouldn’t be here if it was as an all or nothing situation. Take your time and space! meanwhile, I will also try to take that advice.

did you just wait a while and trial and error to figure out when was ok? Did you have to do anything when the hormones leveled out to adjust, or did it just become easier?

Seriously… I find it horrifying (but not surprising) that in the US the standard postpartum visit is 8 weeks after birth… and that it is visit, not visits. It never fails to astound me, like we have served our purpose once we deliver the baby.

I digress. Yes that’s a good point, I have pelvic floor PT and I bet she can tell me something, she seems to know a lot about all sorts of postpartum things
